Fo4 location-specific CTDs

I'm trying to get my Fallout 4 install modded for a fresh playthrough, but I keep getting CTD's when trying to enter Sanctuary hills. This happens consistently no matter what mods I have installed, and only when mods are active. I've already tried multiple times to sort through my load order and find the problem, but there seems to not be one specific mod that's causing the problem. I've already run my load order through LOOT and fixed everything brought up by using FO4Edit's Quick auto clean system. LOOT shows no errors anymore and when I load up MO2 or WryeBash, no issues are surfacing in their systems either. The only issue I have is pertaining to the THbrows mod, and I've already checked that issue out to no avail, uninstalling it does nothing.

Attached is a copy of my load order

ASUS ROG STRIX X470-F Mobo

Ryzen 7 2700x 3.8ghz/core

EVGA RTX 2070 super FTW3 Ultra Gaming edition

1TB Seagate HDD

If you need any further information within the necessities of the situation please feel free to ask.

So this is the first time you're using mods?

Have you edited your ini file to allow for mods to work?

Are you the game from F4SE?

Your load order doesn't look too bad, but LOOT is only really for people with tiny load orders.

With your number, you might want to organize your load order yourself.

Here's another thread over in the Technical Support forum that I have been posting in trying to help someone with their load order, give it a looksee -

I've played with mods dozens of times before, this complete refusal of the game to run at all in Sanctuary Hills is a new occurrence. My previous run was over a year ago and with different hardware, but I was in excess of 200 mods and running completely stable. I've edited the INI file to add the archive invalidation lines as well, and I'm using F4SE for launching. I know the creation club causes all kinds of hangups with F4SE every time they add new stuff, but I've already confirmed everything that needs the script extender is up to date as well. I'll give that link a check so I can cover all my bases, thanks for the info.

I see, I see. So you went through and re-downloaded all the mods you used a year ago?

Basically asking if you're using any mods that have been deleted from the Nexus (or wherever) since last year.

And you're certain every mod that you DO have is up-to-date.

And this should be obvious but i'll say it anyway - have you installed any new mods which you weren't using a year ago? If so, try running the game without any of those. See if using only the mods you know worked a year ago succeeds.

And are you trying to get an old save from a year ago to work in this scenario, or are you starting a new game?

CClub isn't too bad, I use alot of the content in my heavily modded game.
The only mod which I know causes huge problems if enabled at the start of a new game is Tunnel Snakes Rule.

I also recommend dropping UFO4Patch. Every single time I see a thread like this, the person is using UFO4Patch in conjunction with about a hundred unorganized mods.

The more mods you use - the more problematic UFO4Patch will be.

I ran into one person who said they run a heavily modded game with UFO4Patch and it works fine for them.

But they've got their load order on lock.

And this is a new issue raised in another thread where someone is experiencing CTDs - but how is your Memory Cache looking?

Open task manager, go to the Processes tab at the top, click the Memory box to the left, and in the section beneath the Graphs, what does it say under Cached?

Welp... I uninstalled UFO4Patch and proceeded to run around the problem area like a deranged lunatic without crashing. Seems I didn't catch that it was causing the problems when I was doing iterative checks on my load order.

Thanks for alerting me to that fact, I'm probably going to add a few more mods and do some iterative changes to my load order based on the guidelines outlined in your other post.

On another note, how do I clear cached RAM? Because it's currently a bit... extreme I think.

If anyone working on UFO4Patch sees my post history, they're gonna think I got some kinda vendetta against them lol.

But the mod really is a huge source of problems if you've got more than a dozen or so mods.

It's honestly much better to just install an individual fix-it mod for any vanilla glitches you run into. Then flag them as esl.

And holy crap 17g wtf @_@

Here's a short simple video - do it.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if they borked something up with their latest update and just aren't telling people.

Or maybe something about fo4 itself changed with the last update, and they didn't catch it. It happens - that's why we can't have the Clipboard mod u_u
