D3D9.dll not working on Fallout 3.

I have an Intel Integrated GPU so I have to use the fix listed here in order to be able to start a new game on Fallout 3: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17209/. When I add the files, the ini works fine, but when I add the d3d9.dll to the main folder, the game doesn't open. All it does is it opens a cmd and closes infinitely and the only way to stop it is by opening it again and waiting for it to give an error message. When I remove the d3d9.dll from the folder, the game opens, but I can't start a new game or it crashes. Also the default launcher only detects my actual GPU. Help?

The only mods I have are:

Fallout Script Extender

Updated Unofficial Patch for Fallout 3

OpenTweak

ArchiveInvalidater Invalidated!

4GB Patch for Fallout 3

xlive.dll in the folder

In the Fallout.ini, I have bUseThreadedAI=1 and iNumHWThreads=2.

VSync is turned off, windowed is on.

Xlive.dll, d3d9.dll, FOSE, and all of the mods in the image below.

Specs:

Intel I5-7200U

Intel HD Graphics 620

8GB RAM

1 TB of storage

That pic shows a great deal of information.

#1, no the game will not run, you have not installed the software required for that hardware or the game to run on that hardware.

"the xlive.dll" is too large, that tells me it's the wrong software.

the size should be .27 kb not MB.

In my signature here, there are explicate links to Just fallout 3 tools.

use and run the application meant for this game on your system and install the fake live dll.

then download the mandatory xlive for windows market place software package.

If the machine does not have all the latest prerequisites for this old game to run on windows ten? it will never run.

"WHY" the reason why is Microsoft Obsoleted old outdated software.

no problem, there are replacements available.

OR I can link you a direct deposit of Microsoft software for windows ten. It's all from them so it's free.

https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/54991?tab=files&file_id=1000018736

That link contain all the software used for this older game "fallout 3" and release copy of Fallout New Vegas.

It contains the tweaker tool to bypass Live but only use that when all other requirements are met first.

that is a direct downloader from Microsoft's data base.

then here is a very large package the older machine may or may not need.

you install these from older to newer (x86) and (x64)

IN order of age and version. what gets installed windows update will patch and update.

that's the most I can offer you here.

On Steam, you can use the free version of Booster 7 or Purchase it if you instead to keep using that hardware as a gaming rig for I suggest you upgrade to something much more robust.

"DO NOT" download any other product found online from any place other than Steam. they are not legally useable Apps, that are all malware.

Steam is exclusive for gamers. And exclusively backed up BY steam. Please follow the directions.

I will never steer any one wrong

That PC is Border line applicable.

Simplify ?

Download and install all windows dependencies so your Machine is able to be updated.

run windows update until you no longer are getting updates.

check windows updates every 3 days or so.

install the linked packages I gave to you.

run them

"Fomm" has a self contained BOSS sorter and will not connect to the networks. It does have the last and only templated you need for this old game.

Make sure you install the games for windows Market place software.

test game by running it's launcher first. and run.

IF the game does not load after all of that?

I have yet 1 other *.dll package I can give to you that might break the stalemate.

I think maybe ? you've been told or led / miss led to think FOSE is a cure or some thing like that ?

remove all assets for Fose. It's a 3rdparty attribute to change the coding language of the game to run scripts that the game does not understand, much like you not understanding what I am talking about.

that's fine. I am used to it. FOSE is NOT GOD !, it can't fix anything

It can break a lot of things.

But directly out the door before you even get the game established? that's just nut's.

So remove all extra data or uninstall every thing and start over with JUST fallout 3 GOTY and run the games launcher.

Not going to fight 3rd party code diagnostics before you even can get into the game. That's just stupid.

Do not install any mods

Do not install fose.

Install the game fresh

run the game fresh

establish a running game first.

Then after all of that ? you can deal with modifying the games code if it will even run.

But, do not expect anyone to help you break the game based on misinformed or misleading information.

Bethesda does not ship FOSE with their games. it's not required.

---------------------------------

Before I get any heat from people here ? Go away, I run FOSE, NVSE, and all the other things you all use.

it has no place in diagnostic's "here".

I haven't played FO3 before, but it sounds like your issue is related to DirectX 9.

I suggest that you reinstall the game and make sure you install the DirectX 9.0c Redistributable then launch FO3 without mods.

Thanks, I have already provided the user with all of the prerequisites and advice.

let's see how far it goes.
