Somehow, my first time modding with Vortex, it broke Skyrim. Like if I just click on the vanilla base, it won't go anymore.

So I had gone through this pathway,

 

went with the necessary sksm and LOOT, placed FNIS in it's home

 

installed Vortex and SkyUI

 

got my mods all lined in,

 

made sure to download in correct order for dependencies

 

tinkered around a bit to avoid any obvious issues and try to catch all mods that required the dlcs.

 

I managed to play through a small part of the start, got stuck when the game wouldn't load further cut-scenes.

 

I tried to reload and issue wouldnt resolve. Restarted game and it took two hours of stalling before I had to force shutdown my computer.

 

Tried starting new save file and wouldn't even load past first loading screen now.

 

Went through my mods to cut down on remote issues (ie beta or complex mods or overly dependent mods)

 

I got all the way down to SkyUI. Took that off and still no fix. I tried using sksm's start function. Nope.

 

I clicked on Skyrim's icon. NOPE.

 

If it matters, I used the mod manager import function on vortex instead of manual download.

 

I'm ready to YEET my laptop because I can't YEET vortex itself.

 

What steps should I take after I've cooled down?

WHat do you mean by "Import function" instead of manual download?

All the Download with Mod Manager button does is use Vortex to download the mod.

It would help if you listed the mods you're using, and Which SKyrim you're using, because the biggest mistake people make is using Skyrim Speical Edition, and downloading Skyrim Legendary Edition Mods and vice versa.

They also tend to mix up the wrong SKSE vs SKSE64 as well.

SKSE64 is for Skyrim SE, SKSE is for Skyrim LE

Okay, don't think download function matters now from what you said.

 

Skyrim on steam. Which isn't legendary from what my understanding is? I'm borrowing it. I have SKSE. Will change that after refreshing later steps as well.

HtR will give you specific guidance. My own contribution: Start small.

Pick a half dozen mods you like, install them and their prerequisites, and make sure Skyrim is stable. Then add a few more.

You list 44 mods. That is not to many - if you have experience and know what you are doing. A beginner will never get them all working together.

It's very important to know.

Is it Skyrim Special Edition, or Skyrim Legendary Edition, or just plain Skyrim?
Look at the title in the Steam Client
How can you 'borrow' Steam games?

IF you're using Skyrim Special Edition, then it looks like you're using Skyrim Legendary Edition Mods, because the mod you listed "Multi Marriages By Dudeatia (dlc required, disabled from start)"
The Mod says DLC required, however, Skyrim Special Edition comes with all the DLC, and you have it disabled because you don't have the DLC

You also mention "Toccata, by rxkx22", that's another Skyrim LE, Skyrim mod

Same with HDT physics, the mod author you attibute that to made it for regular Skyrim

So, I need to know EXACTLY which Skyrim you are trying to Mod.

I already said probably not Legendary. I know you need to have either a key bought for it or have a very old edition. Family mode on steam lets you decide to lend games to family members, I used it to share my games and vice versa. The title is Skyrim. Searching(and googling) for it last night didn't give any hints if it was original or special edition but it's original. Looking at the title isn't helpful if you aren't sure if it will make that distinction.

 

I'm probably not going to come back to modding for Skyrim for a bit, at least until the edition is legendary and my own copy. It's always frustrating to start modding a new game and I hate the system of modding in place for Skyrim.

OK, but what I'm telling you, if the Skyrim you're trying to mod is "Probably not Legendary", I'm letting you know that you are installing Skyrim Legendary Mods, instead of Skyrim Special Edition mods, along with SKSE instead of SKSE64, which is why nothing is working.

 

If you have the Steam Client the entry will say Skyrim Special Edition, or just Skyrim.
