Game stops responding when fast traveling

Let me specify, let's say I play for an hour. Sometimes two. I go to towns and caves and everything's fine. And theeen, when I try to fast travel to a place at the other side of the map, it just shows me it is loading. FOREVER. And when I check task manager it stops responding. I understand this is very likely a script issue, but I have gotten rid of a big chunk of mods to make it less heavy. I'm only running a total of 200 mods at the moment.

 

Are there any fixes to stuff like that? Any way to refresh Papyrus or SKSE to fix that stuff?

Did you uninstall those mods on the save game you're currently playing? If you did, you might have borked that save. Basic rule: Never uninstall mods during a playthrough.

 

To determine if this a save game issue or rather a mod related problem, you should test with a new game. If the problem doesn't occur in a new game, it's probably your save. Otherwise it's a mod issue. If it's a mod problem, a load order would be helpful.

 

Regarding "resetting papyrus": Unfortunately you can't really do that. You could try to use a save game cleaner like "Fallrim tools". Save game cleaners are alwys "use at your own risk" though. They can help, but they can also finally destroy your save game...

I tried the save cleaning. No go. I started a new game and it still happened.

 

One thing I CAN note is, that back when I had a lot more mods, the convenient Horses script never worked. This is the first time it worked. I'd be tempted to try removing it, but the mod page says it's not safe. I dunno what I need to be looking for. Big mods? Scripts? Conflicts? None come to mind that should make my game break.
