Limited choice of weapon mods at workbench

"Unique" weapons have non-standard item names. As such they do not usually match internally with the compatible weapon lists for the standard "vanilla" weapon mods, in the same way as "GRA" named weapons do not use "vanilla" weapon mods. This can be overcome by mods that take this into account, but you need to check each for specifically mentioning this. (They are not common.)

 

"Mod requirements" on a description page should be listing those needed for that mod to work correctly, but some authors list other mods which require their mod instead. Nothing prevents either approach; it's just a question of interpretation. So you have to apply some common sense to that listing to determine which is more likely. If the list includes mods adding additional functionality/commands (like NVSE, JIP, JohnnyGuitar, etc.) then they are almost certainly the former. If they are just adding similar "items", then they are likely the latter. A quick check on the requirements of a listed "required" mod should be sufficient to confirm the latter case.
