How to switch to Vortex from MO2

It seems that most people don't switch from MO2 to Vortex, so I'm asking for help here. Awhile ago, I used Vortex to load my mods and it worked perfectly fine for a long time, but after seeing a bunch of people talk about MO2, I decided to give it a try. Ever since I did that, I've been having tons of issues, such as HDT Physics not working, Bodyslide not working at all, LOOT not being able to find my mods with MO2 (yes, even when launching LOOT from MO2), and the worst issue I have is not being able to load my previous Skyrim saves. I feel pretty confident that I may have messed something up with a directory somewhere or I messed up somewhere along the way, but I'd rather just go back to Vortex.

I'm not sure what the safest way to swap to Vortex would be, and I really don't want to break things even more. I just want to get back to playing Skyrim SE the way I had it before I switched to Vortex. Any tips or guides or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

How did you switch from Vortex to MO2?

You must have had to uninstall all your mods in Vortex, then switch to MO2 and install them all over again, so that's what you're going to have to do to switch back to Vortex

If you didn't do any of that to switch to MO2, then there's your problem.

Yes, I uninstalled my mods when switching to MO2 and downloaded all of them again. I just have no idea why doing it broke so many of my mods, and I would like to be sure that if I switch back to Vortex, I'll be able to play on my old saves again and my mods will actually work.

To import from MO2, you can use the "Import from MO" option on the mods tab toolbar. This will copy all the mods in your MO2 staging folder over to your Vortex vortex staging folder.

I would recommend installing the 1.3.9 beta build of Vortex before you do as there are a couple of bug fixes for the import tool included.

I have a long-standing fear of Import.

You never need to download mods more than once. The archives live in a Download directory unrelated to the mod manager you use.

I would, if it was me, do it this way:

1) Locate where your mod archives are.

2) Note what mods are enabled in MO 2

3) Disable all mods in MO 2

4) Drag all those mod archives to the Vortex "Drop files here" window. One at a time or all at once; does not matter.

5) Install / Enable all the mods you had enabled in MO 2

6) Deploy

This whole process really does not take very long - and you skip all the worry about Import doing it right.
