Console Commands Help,

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but its not really a technical issue, nor a mod, so i couldn't think of where else to ask, but i was curious about the placeatme command, i intended to use it to redecorate my Hearthfire House a little bit, however i wasn't sure exactly how the command works, and more importantly how the owndership of placed items works.

What i wanted to do, is turn one of the floors of the Enchanters tower into a Library (exactly the same design as the Library tower, only allowing me to have the Armory too) which would mean i'd have to summon in bookcases (Fairly sure i'd have to use closed bookcases because if i spawn an open fronted one, it wouldn't have the activators to "Place" books? is that right?, Anyway, i've got all the commands i need, (placeatme, the code for the case, getpos, getangle and setpos, setangle) but do i need to set the ownership of all of the individual cases to make them "Safe Storage" or does placeatme make them mine anyway?, and does changing their ownership to me actually make it safe storage anyway? or does that just mean i'm not stealing from them :S

Thanks in advance for any info i can get on this topic,

Beccy

1) Any item in a player owned house is protected.

2) As far as using in-game console to do what you want to do, I dont know how it will work out.

3) Get the CK, load Hearthfire.esm and probably Skyrim.esm, find the interior cell you want to modify, find the object (book shelf) you want to place and drag-drop into interior cell and adjust position, save that setup to a esp file name of your choosing, load Skyrim to where you have "Data File" option and check your mod file as a load ...then its Boogie time, check out your work

The CK is actually awesome once you learn to use it a bit.

EDIT: that esp file you create then will be available for other games you start ..not just your current.

I'm experienced with the CK, but the CK would be more work than i really wanted to go through, mainly because the hearthfire houses arn't build/upgraded like other houses. it'd would in this case be easier for me to disable/markfordelete the items i didn't want, and bring them into my save through the console, without the need for an ESP.

My main concerns are wether or not new items need to have their ownership changed, and wether or not they will then be safe storage. everything else i've more or less got sorted :)

1) no, the placeatme command does not establish ownership

2) no, setting ownership of the bookshelf does not make it safe storage. Not sure how the bookshelves actually work in the CK, but if it were a chest, you'd have to set it to not respawn before it would be 'safe'.
