saving dds files with Nvidia plugin Photoshop CS6

DXT1 has 1 bit alpha. Most vanilla diffuse/alpha maps requires a bit more. Usually BC3 / DTX 5 is enough.

So it would require 2 bit alpha ? :laugh:

 

Because, you know, a bit more then 1 bit.

Downloading the Intel plugin solved the problem.

Thank you all for your advice!

 

I tried to save as DTX5 but it was still all black and the file doubled in size...

saving as DXT1 no alpha with the intel plugin didn't turn the texture black

Good to know that that worked!

 

I have only ever used that plugin and never had any problems with it ...
