mods not deploying

hey there, I'm in a jam. the mods are downloaded to vortex ok but it says the files aren't deploying. the error message reads:

"Deployment Failed

20 files were not correctly deployed (see log for details[i don't know how to do that]). the most likely reason is that files were locked by external applications so please ensure no other application has a mod file open, then repeat deployment."

 

any tips and/or solutions would be much appreciated thanks.

You are going to specifically have to give us the paths you are using for the game, staging directory, and mods.

well it hasn't been working on any mod even simple ones like a quality world map. im using the latest version of vortex(1.3.8) and the path is C:\New folder\New folder in the same drive as the game using hardlink deployment

 

the :cool: is supposed to be an eight if the auto-emoji thing still does its thing

im trying to mod skyrim, the game is on the local disk (c:), i made a new folder in local disk and then a new folder in that folder(in other words "C:\New Folder\New Folder\" is the path).

Why did you make a new folder\new folder\ path, and for what did you make it?

Pro tip: If you don't install Skyrim to a Steam generated path - working assumption is that the game is not legit. That sort of terminates support.
