I recently modded Monster Hunter World but then the mods never worked so i tried to disable them but now i just tried to uninstall the launcher and mods hoping to just play vanilla MHW again but no the game just blackscreens and never starts now. It's "fun" when you can just kiss $40 and 120 hours of hard work goodbye all because you had second thoughts about modding a game. And I had hear the mods were legit and trustworthy. Trustworthy doesn't destroy your game just because you changed your mind about it. I had to download 3 whole launchers and other things just for mods that don't work and will make your game not work.

TLDR: I rate these mods 1/10 just play legit so you don't have your game go K.I.A (Killed In Action)

DWolvin, I have already tried reverifying, backing up data, uninstalling and reinstalling, none of that worked.

rmm200, I did have a problem with Vortex it never actually modded the game despite me downloading 3 different launchers from Vortex to make the mods work, and then it broke my game when i tried to un-mod it, Hopefully, a MHW support site will help me get my 120 hours of hard work back

When you uninstalled your game, did you make sure that there were no residual files remaining in the game folder before reinstalling?

If you installed mods manually the mod files could remain in the folder and mess things up since the uninstaller will not recognise those files as part of the installation.

The game being stuck on a black screen after launching it is indicative of outdated mods in your NativePC folder. The game was updated recently so it's likely you have some mods that have not yet been updated, causing that issue.

Make sure the NativePC folder in your MHW directory is empty. It sounds like you still have manually installed, outdated mods left over - as Zaldiir suggested.

Please note that mods require Stracker's Loader to be installed and - as Stracker points out on the file page - quest mods/monster mods also require the installation of Performance Booster. Both of these can be installed with Vortex just fine, as can most mods that are packaged properly. Again, the black screen is not caused by Vortex not installing mods properly, it's caused by at least one mod being out of date and not suited for the current version of the game.

Just thought I should add the mods I use with Monster Hunter World:

ClearHunter

Custom Taroth Armor

Cuter Handler face model (two mods)

SmartHunter

Souvenir's Light Pillar

Stracker's Loader (Install this first - and make sure you do it right)

All installed through Vortex - and all working fine with latest update.

I also have Reshade, installed outside Vortex.

So if anyone is getting scared off by the title of this topic - don't be.

Worthy of note: I did not know about Performance Booster and have not used it. Runs fine on my system without it.

Based on the post above - I just added it.

And... I went through and updated all my mods. Latest Stracker does indeed require Performance Booster. All working well updated.
