Old World Blues crashing nonstop

Hi, ever since I started doing the missions in the Big MT, my game keeps having performance issues and crashing nonstop
I can't even save and the game crashes or freezes like I'm playing using a scratched disc from a PS2 game
Is there any mods that can help with this?

Symptoms are a start, but we REALLY need to see a sorted "load order" (such as produced by "LOOT"); to include the main game and DLC files. (Screenshots don't work so well for the purpose.) With modded games its the sequence, not merely the list of mods, which is the cause of many problems. LOOT's sort gives a good first approximation, correcting the most obvious issues and is sufficient for most players. You can make minor adjustments to the order and tell LOOT how to remember them. It's in the on-line documentation under "Metadata". Instructions on how to copy it's list for posting are in the "How to ask for help" article, and "Checklist Item #11' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

In the meantime, please see the 'Vanilla Load Order' entry in the 'First Timer Advice' section; and the 'Common Game Problems' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

If the problem persists, then work through either the 'Solutions to Starting the game problems' or the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' sections in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to play a modded FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so. It is designed for someone who has never played a modded PC game before, so it tries to avoid making any assumptions, is kept "up-to-date", and covers years of "lessons learned". It is NOT a list of various mods to install that happen to work on the author's machine. It addresses fundamentals underlying how to get the basic game and mods to work together. At least 90% of everything I post in the "Technical Support" sub-forum is already in that article.

As alluded to in my original response, there are many things that can cause a problem. There is nothing wrong with that extremely minimal "load order", but do you have the 'Towards Game Stability' mods included (which do not show up in a "load order")?

If you are getting CTDs, then you should have Eventlog error entries. What do those say? (See the note at the very beginning of the 'Solutions to "Crash To Desktop" (CTD) problems' sections in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.)

Did you work through the 'Common Game Problems' section referenced in my original reply? In particular, I'm wondering about the "save game" issues.

Hi, I forgot to mention a few details.

Besides the usual crashing and freezes like when playing a broken PS2 game, I also have extreme frame rate drops very often when outdoor. The game suddendly drops to, I don't know, 10/5 frames per second
I should also mention that this doesn't happen with the base game or other dlcs

As for the mods, I have the YUP as you can see in my load order, I also have the script extender and the 4GB patcher, but I don't have the tick fix installed

Also, where can I check the Eventlog error entries?

From the "towards game stability" section of the troubleshooting wiki, it says to install these mods:

  • NVTF - New Vegas Tick Fix is a lighter, more compatible version of the 64hz stutter bug fix from NVSR and is now the recommended solution to stutter problems. Fully Windows 7 & 10 compatible, including Fast Exit. No more fiddling with INIs!
  • Alternatively, the older New Vegas Stutter Remover (NVSR) (requires NVSE or xNVSE. The NVSR 5.0 beta versions are stable, but many people have problems getting a problem free INI configuration for Windows 10. The author and several users has provided configurations they find to work on the "comments" page, but "your mileage may vary". Check version requirements of other mods when choosing.)
  • New Vegas AntiCrash (NVAC) (solves most common CTDs).
  • FNV Mod Limit Fix (Requires NVSE). Works with latest Steam and GOG versions. Fixes the FNV mod limit bug, allowing a maximum of 255 plugins to be loaded. It can also cause an increase in "Frame Per Second (FPS)", remove game stutter and allow for faster loading times especially when using a large number of mods.
  • "Sheson memory patch" for NVSE. (Increases "heap size". Use either the "heap replacement" feature of NVSR or this. Both together do not appear to conflict, but seem to be "overkill" at the cost of almost 1GB of game memory.) See the 'Issue: CTD without warning, "out of memory error", or stops responding' sub-topic in wiki article Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting for simple but detailed instructions for enabling this patch or alternatives.
  • Yukichigai Unofficial Patch (YUP) (and the various optional patches for it and other mods, There are other YUP patch files than on that page you may have to search out for other mods). Provides the most current and complete "bug fixes" for the vanilla game without requiring anything else.

Get these mods installed and tell us what happens. Do you use a mod manager or are you simply playing the game from Steam/GOG/whatever?

If archive invalidation is still a thing, you should toggle it just in case. But before that, I need to know if you're using a mod manager before I can help you further beyond copying/pasting info from the troubleshooting wiki.

View the "Windows Eventlog" through the builtin Windows app "Event Viewer". The link describes how to use it. This is a necessary basic skill everyone should learn how to do. Please see the "Windows Error Messages" section of the wiki "How to read most Bethesda game error logs" article for the pertinent information we need from such logs.
