Having already disabled shadows and set everything low my laptop still struggles a bit. There are a lot of items in the game that could be removed I don't need to be loading dishes and food items at all. Removing non essentials and any other tweaks would hopefully improve performance for those unable to play without noticeable lag. Doesn't bother me that I won't be able to sell such items, Indont pick them up anyway to do to poor inventory management implementation in the game anyway.
