Hi skyrim players!

So i have cutted my ini files, to make a backup, but i forgot to paste them (-.-).. Then i copied a new ini file and pasted it into the skyrim folder under documents.

Now my skyrim crash on the loading screen in the the actual game (where you can read about stuff and spin sh*t)... I can list all the mods i have installed! I just don't want to start all over modding!..

Please help me!

Specs (don't know if you even need them?):

GTX 660 non ti

i5 3570k OC

8 gb ram

1 tb hdd

If the .ini file was the default (unchanged), then you can verify your game cache on steam and it will rewrite the files to the default. There is also that other copy in your programs file, you could try copy-pasting that. (not cut)

However, if the file you were trying to back up had changes from you already, I think you are out of luck, and all you can do is go back to the default file and then try to recreate your changes.

Okay, thanks! :)

But in my desperate attempt to make the game work again, i have uninstalled all my mods on NMM. If i backup my save files, uninstall the game, install it again, and then enable all my mods again, tweak the .ini files, and then launch my game again, will it then be like before i f*#@ed the .ini files?

Some of my mods are pretty big, and change a lot in the game, like Skyrim ReDone, so i don't know if the save files would have any conflict, with something... or something.. ..

Please help again!! :i

P.S. I am truly sorry for the bad gramma and spelling.

@ thamaligz: I just had to reinstalled it all too because I crashed my GPU.

If you've backed up everything you should be alright, but here is the safest way I've experienced:

1. reinstall the game, verify integrity of cache through Steam to get back your .ini file.

2. launch the game online completely Vanilla and play a new game till you get to save after the Helgen dragon attack - that should reset your .ini file.

3. reinstall all your mods in the same order it was before if you can or else you may get errors - best way I found is I took screenshots of my NMM window to make sure I respected the mods order.

4. launch the game again and load your most recent clean save, play for a few minutes and make a new save - that should work ok and restore your .ini file to the condition it was before you reinstalled the game.

Hope this works for you too.
