Mods Crashing Vampire: TM Bloodlines

Hello. First time poster. Getting desperate.

So I'm trying to mod Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. First time, several months ago on another PC went smooth as silk. Download, Install, Bang, Boom. Up and running no problem.

This time it hasn't been so easy.

I'm trying to get a few texture mods for artwork, assets installed as well as some NPC and player character reskins.

Here are the mods I'm working with:

Player Character Reskins,

Beautiful Monster Female Hands Retexture by Ghanima Atreides

Vampire pC female Pack BY Marius217

Jenya's female toreador pc + New hands texture

Eccentric Malkavian Male by fliplock

Female Brujah Replacement Pack by Xaitar

Brujah Vampire Retexture by Marius217

Nosferatu Motherf*#@er by Marius217

NPC Reskins,

New Badass Prince LaCroix by Felizpe

Ancient Lore - Beckett Retexture by Ghanima Atreides

Rebel With a Cause - A Nines Rodriguez Reskin by Ghanima Atreides + Fixed UP Damaged Version

Issac Classy HD by Roberto 1993

Pisha (With New Hair And HQ Skin) by Roberto 1993

And these Asset Mods,

Art Texture Pack + Red Dragon art pack add-on by Vampire Nonsense

Erotica Extravaganza - SinBin Video Rack Retexture by Ghanima Atreides

Food Texture Pack by Vampire Nonsense

So...

I haven't been able to isolate the troublesome mods, but I'm pretty sure it's [one of] the PC Skins. Obviously, that's where most of the conflicts are taking place.

Even trying to have all those mods at once is going to create a ton of dependencies that I would expect to be able to work through in the load order in order to get them all displaying.

So what happens when I try to run Bloodlines is it either crashes upon loading an existing save. Or when trying to load a new game into character creation it either:

a.) Loads once from the title screen then dumps back to the title screen. Upon trying to load a new game a second time I get a CDT and this:
map version is 2531, expecting 17!!!

b.) In character creation, if I try to select a player character I've modded via the drop down to select your clan, it CTD.

Now the mods I had running perfectly fine before were:
Beautiful Monster Female Hands Retexture

Eccentric Malkavian Male by fliplock

Female Brujah Replacement Pack by Xaitar

New Badass Prince LaCroix

I am running Vortex v1.3.17

Win 10 x64

And I am running the GOG version of VTMB through Galaxy.

What do?

Thanks. Any assistance is greatly appreciated :)

No experience with this game, but a few general guidelines.

1) Remove all mods and verify the game runs correctly and you have not broken anything.

2) Install the four mods you say were working perfectly. Verify they still do.

3) Now the hard part. Add a few more mods and verify correct operation. If it fails, remove half that set

4) Iterate until you find the failing mod(s).

Nothing Vortex can do in helping you in this process except making swapping mods in and out easy. Still a lot of trial and error.

Thanks, rmm200.

After some more troubleshooting (using rmm200's methodology as a base, thanks) I have discerned that the problem mods causing the crash are all the player character reskins.

... so....

The only directions I could find from the mod's pages are to install them to the /vampire folder or the /unofficial_patch folder if using the unofficial patch.

GOG version comes with the unofficial patch v10.2 but I have it updated to the current patch v10.7

What do I need to do to get these player character reskins to work? To my recollection, I didn't have to do anything special last time. Should I just try to do them manually or can I still use Vortex?

Have you read the installation instructions on the Description pages for these mods?

Since GOG has incorporated the Unofficial Patch, has it taken into account also adding the extra folders etc?

Does the GOG version have a foler called Unofficial_Patch?

Installation:

  • IF you are using Wesp5's Unofficial Patch: unpack the file and place in Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines\Unofficial_Patch ; this is important because UP edits the Tremere textures which will overwrite these and they won't show up for your Tremere Fledglings; I found out the hard way when trying to figure out why it wasn't working. You might want to back up the original Tremere textures in that folder should you want to revert to them one day.

  • If you aren't using the Unofficial Patch (although you really really should!), just place them in Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines\Vampire

Yes. The directory does have a folder called Unofficial_Patch. And Vortex is installing the art asset mod files into Unofficial_Patch and its sub folders. The relevant folders have a 1kb (96b) file named __folder_managed_by_vortex

There is also a folder called Unofficial_Patch_fr which just contains an empty save folder

As far as I can tell, no files pertaining to the pc reskin mods appear to be in the Unofficial_Patch folders.

Should I redirect Vortex to install those mods to the Unofficial_Patch folder?

EDIT: Okay. Vortex has this ALL WRONG. I just checked on LaCroix in his office and there are no textures on his model and the artwork on the walls are blank.

I bet it's the same for every other mod. Vortex just doesn't seem to know how to install my VTMB mods.

It's not Vortex's fault. You have to tell it which folder (Vampire folder or Unofficial_Patch folder) to install your mods to. 1265-1592920132.jpg

How do you even open that panel?

I set the game's mod folder via the Manually Set Location option on the Games screen. I'm not sure if that's what it does though. I set it to the Unofficial_Patch folder and reinstalled the mods, but none of the mods showed up in game.

Double Click on any of the mods and the panel will open up
