I just started to encounter a "glitch" where the Super Mutants, once killed, freeze in position and can not be selected for ammo, caps, etc rewards. I, the player that is, can walk right through each mutant. I'm at level 37 (approx.). There is no CTD or problem with the game, my companion and I can continue as normal. Puzzling predicament as the last encounter required a key from the "boss", but couldn't get it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do they spawn in this state? If so then have you killed these ones before with a freezing effect? The cryolator and Freezing legendary weapon effect are known to cause this bug. Cannot be fixed after it occurs as far as I know.

I'm not running any mods that affect the mutants and none that affect physics.

The mutants spawn and act normally until killed when they simple stop moving. I've used no freezing weapons in the game and the effect has only started in the last couple of days. I'm going through my mods to see if I added anything that might have caused a problem. It's only a minor inconvenience which I can work around with console commands if necessary.

How strange. I've never heard of this bug before the way you describe it.

The only time I've ever seen this effect is when I've killed an enemy with a freezing effect and then come to that same area later and they spawn frozen. I can still kill them, but afterwards I cannot loot them.

 

Could be Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch or Realistic Death Physics - ALL DLC as those either edit NPC's or physics. You could try playing without them.

 

Although if it is the same bug, perhaps caused by something else, then you can't fix NPC's already affected by it.
