Help modding steam/protondb

So, I've played DAO modded on windows before.

I'm changing over to Linux and have the game installed and playable(Arch Linux using the Steam/Proton engine) Hoping to get some help with being able to mod the game though.

I've tracked down DAupdater and am able to run it in Wine, but install's keep failing.

I've attached a screensnip of the error message.

Google-Fu doesn't seem to be helping me solve this. So I'm making a thread in hopes someone here can point me in the right direction.

Am I able to install the mods "manually"?

*edit

Figured I would add in as much info as possible for help.

Although the mod install came back with an error. If I go through Wine to C:users/USER/My Documents/BioWare/Dragon Age/packages/core/data/

I do find the two mods I tried to install as "ERF" files.

I did go and verify though that the mods are not working in-game.

I can't speak directly to how to get DAupdater to run with your specific setup, but I can talk a bit about the general process of installing DAzip packed mods. One of the reasons for using an installer (rather than installing manually) is that installing DAzip mods involves more than just copying file to a folder (or folders, really, since the installer puts certain files in two different places). In addition to adding the files to the appropriate folders, the installer also has to write to the game's addons.xml file, to let the game know that mod has been added.

It may be possible (in concept) to manually decompress the DAzip archive (which is just a ZIP archive, structured in a specific way, with a special XML containing the required information for the addons.xml), place the files in the correct folders ([drive letter]:\Users\[username]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\AddIns and [drive letter]:\Users\[username]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\data), and then copy the needed information from the mod's Manifest.xml file to addons.xml... but I don't know if anyone has actually tried and succeeded in installing a mod that way. And I don't know how to sort out which files in the DAzip go into which of the two folders... the packages\core\data folder gets an ERF archive, but the toolset puts multiple ERFs into the DAzip when it exports the Builder-to-Player package, but only one is the going to be the ERF for that folder.
