Should I bother with SE OCOv2 with HGEC, or are there any alternatives to potato faces?

I have tried to install OCOv2 Seamless with HGEC Female with BBB and Roberts Males and while most of the males worked - except for Orcs's ears, the females were fubar.

Some races had quite large color differences between bodies and heads (Redguards), while some races were flawless (Wood Elf, Nord) and some were just ... wrong, these were Orcs, which many people I've noticed complained about. Honestly; the seamless mod needs an all-in-one install with correct instructions (like some other poster noted, the instructions are confusing as all hell and even contradict themselves on some points) and maybe some compatible choices for better body textures, because all except the Orc ones look terrible, but I can't stand looking at the potato faces and that's what this mod has done beautifully.

Since this mod is less compatible and harder to install, than goddamn FCOM and the owner of it has thrown a fit and blocked possible helpful questions and help in the mod's posts, I have to look here for help. I have already uninstalled Oblivion, so you won't see my load order, but since there was only OCOv2 and HGEC with BBB and EVE mods and it was all sorted through BOSS and included a Bashed Patch, I don't think that's where the problem was. I was also using Growlf's Controllable Skeleton, since it seems more up-to-date, than Corronera's and the SE Khats and Args update (the body textures for beast races in OCO are just ... bad).

So my issues were:

- male orc and female orc ears and hands were vanilla-green

- female orc face was vanilla-green

- female redguard had completely mismatched body colour

- other races had tiny flaws and they did actually have seams, except Wood Elf, Khajiits and Argonians, but the latter two had no seams because of the separate Khats and Args update

- after uninstalling OCOv2 and deactivating it and making sure there were no traces of it left, I still had the teeth from the mod on Khajiits, Argonians and Orcs, so I had to uninstall completely, any way to go around this issue?

Is there any mod, maybe more up-to-date, than OCOv2, that fixes NPC faces a bit? Maybe even hair replacements would be nice. The vanilla HGEC for Khajiit is fine, altough it could be better, but Argonians and Khajiit males look like carpets. If you can, hit-me-up with your favourite fantasy beast race textures, because I really can't find any at all on the new nexus. All "tesnexus" links are old and broken.

Oblivion Character Overhaul v2 is the state of the art for faces (until you create it's superior successor) and the For_Idiots install for Seamless - OCOv2 is as close as you'll find to a "one click" install (again until you create it's successor).

My guess as to the root of your problem is Steam install of Oblivion and you didn't reset the BSA timestamps (but that is just me using the "Most Probable Likelyhood" principle for lack of sufficient information to be any more precise).

For some NPCs of some races (e.g. Redguards, Orcs and Dunmer) all the modded loving we have at our disposal today will not undo the harsh treatment they received from the wonderful folks at Bethesda, and they will be blessed with mismatched heads until you edit them in the CS and de-Bethesdacise their face sliders.

Didn't think of resetting the timestamps, thanks! I'll try that the next time.

Pity about the sliders. Bethesda is quite sloppy with this, altough they keep their studio small, they crunch a lot and everything is done as quick as possible, sacrificing quality. It's still as it was in Oblivion days.

What about the seamless retextures? Are there even any? At least for the beast races...

Download Seamless - OCOv2 to a folder and extract it to that same folder using 7-Zip. You'll see then that it includes meshes and textures (including tweaked normal maps), all using the methods devised by Junkacc11 to minimise the seams (not just neckseams) to the extent possible within the limitations imposed by the game.

My thoughts on Bethesda are they were trying for as much variation as they could between NPCs of the same race ... they just went too far with some. Any of the sliders in the game do not work as intended when you max them to either high or low end extreme.
