I am trying to alter script but it fails to compile every time I try. Whenever I try to compile the file, I get this error that I do not understand the source for it:

Spoiler

I have all the scripts from the scripts.zip extracted to proper place and the files from the .bsa for the mod as well. I have preformed a clomplete reinstall of Skyrim SE three times and have tried moving the scripts to proper places manually and with mod manager (Vortex) and keep getting the same errors.

Nothing tried has worked so far. It is only the .psc files that fail to compile for the mod I am working with (Racemenu), all other .psc compile. Any help would be appreciated as am trying to learn how to do modding.

To anyone who celebrating Thanksgiving, happy Thanksgiving! (sorry for poor English).

Do you have the Modder's Package optional file from RaceMenu installed?

Do you have the SKSE source scripts for the correct version of Skyrim installed?

Do you have PapyrusUtil installed?

Thank you for the response. I thought I replied, but I did not. Yes I have the Modder's Package and SKSE source scripts installed. I just downloaded the PapyrusUtil, but still get the same error.  From the SKSE folder I downloaded, I followed videos that showed how to install SKSE. However, the videos said not to worry about the src folder which is only useful to programmers. Do I need that folder put somewhere?

You shouldn't need to put the src folder anywhere, but you do need the Data/Scripts/Source folder from SKSE installed to compile scripts with SKSE functions. RegisterForModEvent is a SKSE function, so try re-installing SKSE and see if that helps.

I have both tried reinstalling SKSE manually and automatically through vortex. I reinstalled the racemenu modder's resource and through vortex (manually downloaded the .7z file then dragged into vortex), but now I get an warning message:

Spoiler

I was not getting this message before and cannot even compile files. I can see the RaceMenuBase.psc in the Data>Source>Scripts folder with the rest of the .psc files, so don't know how it can be missing. Thanks for help so far.

Ahh, I think then you're trying to compile with SSE. They changed the folder structure in SSE. Try copying the entire contents of Data>Source>Scripts and putting them in Data>Scripts>Source as well, and to be safe, vice versa.

I am getting the same error message even after copying the contents of each folder into each other. I honestly am not sure what to do anymore because I have reinstalled things so many times and I haven't gotten anywhere. Is it possible to take an already compiled .pex file from someone else computer and put it on my own and have it work? I believe my friend has Skyrim SE and all I want is to make the racemenu sliders go from -10 to +10 (I have given up on my other ideas for modding since I can't even get a file to compile).

Yes that should work fine. You can also try this tool instead of using the CK to compile: https://www.nexusmod...ion/mods/31700/  It's what I mostly use for scripting in Skyrim.

Ok. I will try that compiler first. Thank you so much for your help.

It finally compiled! I honestly cannot thank you enough. I wished I learned about CompilerPro sooner. I just followed the set up instructions and it just works. :) Thanks everyone for your help, especially dylbill.
