Are mods for the regular version of the game usable in the VR version?

I don't know the exact process but no, you can't just add a mod to the VR version. I think it requires special encoding. An example would be for totally different controllers. You can't use an xbox controller in VR, you need the special paddles, and you can't use the VR paddles in the standard version of the game. Do a YouTube search for FO4 VR. There are several videos that explain how it works.

Most work fine. Depends though. If they require F4SE and don't have a VR version you're usually out of luck. Also Bleachers quest mod crashes. I copied all the DLC over from my Flatout4 game to VR FO4.
You certainly want to use the Version Checker mod which fixes compatibility issues with version #'s for mods in VR:

Hi, are you able to get MCM to work in VR?

I find very, very few mods actually do anything in VR for Fallout.

Am I missing something?

I have about 150 mods on Skyrim VR and it is just about perfect, but FOVR is barely playable.

 

Any advice you could give on some good mods or about MCM would be greatly appreciated.

The VR version of MCM isn't quite ready. I comes up, but there was no way of actually making choices (like using a slider bar for example.) I talked to the developer today and they are still working on it. It will eventually be put up on Nexus when they get the inputs worked out.
