Weird fix(?) to vortex mod deployment? (side topic to vortex will not/can not deploy mods)

I had the same problem discussed here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6985911-my-vortex-will-not-deploy-mods/

Thing is none of the stuff on the first page or so worked for me. Since I couldn't can't click the apply button next to deployment method, and couldn't use the deploy mods either, I knew something was going on. Because I was convinced nothing could be wrong with my drives for hardlink to work. Similar to that thread.

I still ended up switching to move deployment just for the kicks and then the "apply" button came back alive, but then I still hail mary'd it and thought well maybe I can get it to work if I switch back to hardlink. So I did, apply button became lit up again?? I clicked it, went to mods, clicked deploy mods, and it worked.

I'm thinking this has to do with me uninstalling and then reinstalling morrowind, but then again, I still seemed to get an error message when clicking deploy mods when I first installed vortex on top of morrowind...I think.

I also set up witcher 3 deployment rules in my initial startup, so it could be that after doing so and then switching to install morrowind mods, a flag was never set when starting tracking morrowind to reenable the apply button next to the mod deployment method dropdown. Or perhaps since witcher 3 was on my C drive and hardlink wouldn't work (and I set deployment settings for witcher 3 first) and morrowind on my D drive the initial settings from witcher 3 carried over were never adapted for the change in drives for morrowind, but toggling the dropdown menu to adifferent option triggered code to do so . I.e. maybe the code to check was restricted to be only onchange somehow (html speak for selecting/completing a click on to/on a different text option in a dropdown menu.)

Idk how I could do hardllink deployment in the first place if the witcher 3 was on my C drive and vortex on the D drive but I will try to remember to edit that in after reinstalling TW3 later today.

Again could still be due to uninstalling and reinstalling morrowind but maybe it's something that would work for someone with this issue.

(Will take down if a repost did some searching just didn't find anything much though I'm new to forums and might have botched the search.)
