Wanderer's Edition not detecting FOSE, help?

Every time I launch I receive a message stating Wanderer's Edition requires FOSE. The first time I tried to play I did not have FOSE but I then downloaded the most recent version and it is showing as active in mod manager however I am still getting the message. Is this common and Wanderer's Edition will still load or am I doing something wrong?

EDIT for clarity: I am running the GOG edition of the game. In mod manager FOSE shows as active in package manager but not in the main window with load order, I don't know if that is relevant or not. I'm pretty new to FO mods on PC since I have always played these games on PS3. Thank you for your help.

EDIT update: I saw this same issue discussed on reddit so it seems to be an actual issue and not just my own inexperience. It also appears to be a pretty recent thing from what I gather.

What mod manager?

Did you follow any advice, ie: use the console command "getfoseversion"?

Is FOSE installed properly, Fallout 3\Data\FOSE?

Fallout Mod Manager, acquired here on Nexus.

I did not try that. I searched for some help but all I really found was to be sure I have the most recent version of FOSE, which I am fairly certain I do since I just downloaded it today. I'll give the console command thing a try.

Yes, FOSE is in the Data folder where it belongs.

Is the game installed in Program Files? If so, move it to another location on the hard drive.

Are any of the folders in the install path set to "Read Only"? If so, remove the read only tag. You cannot do this if the game is in Program Files.

Is FOSE V1.2 beta2?

Yes, that's the FOSE version I have. GOG games install to a default folder c:/gog games, when I checked some of the Fallout 3 install folder were read only. I'll give it a go now and see if it works. Thank you for the troubleshooting advice.

EDIT: Nope, still getting the same error. I'm going to try removing all other mods except those two to see if that helps.

EDIT: Dangit, same thing. I'm going to do a clean install and see what happens.

FOSE needs to be in your Fallout ROOT directory, it's a script extender, and cannot be installed with FOMM.
FOSE does NOT go in the DATA directory, only PLUGINS for FOSE go in the Data\Plugins directory.
FOSE itself goes in the game root.

The installation instruction are right inside the FOSE zip file

[ Installation ]
1. Copy the .dll files and fose_loader.exe to your Fallout 3 directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder, and should contain files called Fallout3.exe, FalloutLauncher.exe and the G.E.C.K. (if installed).
2. Launch Fallout by running fose_loader.exe from the Fallout3 directory.

Most likely, you installed FOSE with FOMM, and now you have a

"fose_v1_2-beta2" folder in your root or data directory, instead of having the FOSE DLLS, and FOSE_Loader.exe in your Fallout 3 ROOT directory.

You are correct, that is exactly what I did. Thank you for the help.

I didn't think to look inside the .zip file before running it through FOMM...
