How to remove scripts of uninstalled mods?

I have seen many posts that say that I need to clean my savegame, but to do that I would have to uninstall all of my mods, and i have also read that in itself could become dangerous. Is there another way to remove unused scripts from past uninstalled mods?

While you could remove any left over PEX files from any removed mods, there is no way to remove safely the script data from your save game. Once it is in your save it is there for the life of that character. This is one of the early lessons that players need to learn about using mods: Adding is fine, Removing is not. Pick a load order and stick with it.

Whatever you do...don't ever...install the Maids II - Deception mod it has like 800 scripts in it XD

I'm going to hazard a guess that some mods share the same scripts so if you remove a script, you might remove the wrong one?

That could be too, but say I want to uninstall WARZONES mod, and I uninstalled all mods that would depend on it, what would be the risk of uninstalling it then?

What are the consequences of removing the pex file? and is it still unsafe even though I am not going to use the mod anymore?

Consequences of removing the pex file? If you know what you are doing, none. If you don't know what you are doing, anything could happen. :P

What happens when you uninstall a mod. If you installed with a mod manager and thus will uninstall with it, it should remove all the scripts associated with that mod. If you installed manually and you forget to remove the scripts, the game when loading the save will see those left behind scripts and actually report less errors/warnings in the papyrus log than it would have without the scripts. But that is only the case if the object the script was on is still in the game. Many newer mods apply scripts to custom objects that will be removed when the mod is uninstalled. A lot of older mods did not always use custom objects (until these issues were learned) and thus may have problems after being uninstalled.

The safest thing to do is when you decide you don't want to use a mod any more, start the game over.

I installed most mods using mod manager, if I have to install it manually, I don't bother it usually because I am fairly new to modding. But I installed WARZONES using NMM and the scripts are still there in the log. Also I do not know how to handle pex files, any tips or tutorials or something to help me learn how to use them?

If you uninstalled with NMM, the scripts are gone. However, the scripts are in your savegame and the game is still trying to use them since they were apparently placed on objects/actors still in the game. Nothing you can do about it. If you want them to be truly gone, you need to start over or go back to before you installed the mod.

PEX files are just the game readable form of the PSC file which is the human readable file. The game only uses the PEX files while the Creation kit uses both. Normally you don't handle them, you let the mod managers install & uninstall them.

If you really want, you can go thru that Papyrus log and double check your scripts folder to make sure that the PEX version of whatever problematic script is no longer present. But it won't do anything for you, the script data is already stored in your save file and it won't come out.

Ok, Thank you, even though it wont help, I think its still worth the time to go through the log and trace scripts being used. Thank you for the information.

By your logic, one should not install Skyrim - it has tens of thousands of scripts in it :ohdear:
