Read first:

Hello was hoping to get some help or insight into my issue, before i begin let me say that I've never had issues that i couldn't solve by myself through searches, other threads or posts, or a fresh install.

I apologize in advance i don't know how to use Forums or their functions very well when posting, i never post i scan most threads, so i find it easier to indent and underline/Bold main points. If its TLDR then I've Bolded the main points of the post for convenience. Have a nice day :smile:

 

First my Specs:

Nvidia 560 GTX 1GB VRAM

AMD FX 6100 3.3Ghz CPU

8GB RAM DDR3

65GB SSD

1TB Hitachi HDD <---Steam Skyrim folder on here

 

As of writing

Skyrim 1.9.32.0

SKSE 1.6.13

 

Problem:

So I had run into issues regarding Skyrim upon a fresh install of the game after:

-Deleting all mods from the folder after uninstalling

-Running Ccleaner to remove registry of any leftover data from the game

-Even clearing the saves

 

Existing Mods Currently Loaded:

Before i began running the game i used TES5Edit to clean the master files for the update, Dawnguard, and Dragonborn. In addition i only had a few mods running with it however none that changed scripts except for SKSE and SkyUi:

-Body replacer

-Armor replacers along with Standalone sets

-SkyUi w/ SKSE

-Smaller addons like dragonsoulstoperks, greatwyrms, and soulfrost GS (3 workshop addons)

 

The result was the following logs for the first run with everything enabled. It appears to be Scripting issues with Dragonborn's DLC and Dawnguard DLC or Master files w/ SKSE:

What i thought was wrong:

I had done tests with each DLC without SKSE and the same erros occured just w/o the Segments with:

in between, i could discern that this was referring to the MCM in SkyUi enabled by scripts from SKSE hence why i didnt consider SKSE scripts to be harmful in this case(Obviously why would SKSE cause my crash...) and most with dlc1 or dlc2 scripting errors which appear to be both DLC's.

 

Running BOSS, WyreBash, and TESEdit all pointed at and led me to believe that the problems existed in DLC1 Dawnguard I'm assuming, and DLC2 Dragonborn.

 

Odd Part...:

Validating the game cache results in a small 752 KB file being restored after each crash and a 64.4 MB missing file after using TESEdit to clean my files. However according to steam my game is perfect and these files will validate over and over depending on the process i run to check my game be it TESEdit or Running and crashing... Not believing this i ran another Fresh install that yielded the same results to no avail after thoroughly removing any left over data again from my Computer.

 

Conclusion:

I think Something is screwing up the Scripts(Obviously), more to the point i believe they are the DLC's I'm downloading from steam straight b/c i haven't edited any scripts for either DLC just small textures and meshes for simple mods and have no idea how I'm encountering such issues when I start a new game after fresh installs on so many occasions... was considering running the Unofficial patches in hopes of fixing this however didn't try because its super late and will hope for replies in the morning and due to the fact that I wasn't sure if those Unofficial patches would fix it b/c on the 3rd install they didn't seem to do anything and was still running into the same errors... (on that install i had all my desired mods however still received the same errors and were all compatible with each other with no errors only DG and DB).

 

Potential Fixes I Was Considering:

-Alternate Start Mod

 

Let me conclude this rather lengthy post(apologies) by saying any help is greatly appreciated or insight to my issue and how it can be fixed would be a large help. Thanks in advance.

Errors like this from DLCs are normal:

The cause: At some point they modified the script and stopped using a particular property without clearing the associated value first from the form(s) that the script was assigned to. It won't break your game. The USKP does attempt to correct those. However, after the USKP corrects the initial ones, new ones show up in their place (perhaps USKP did the same mistake as the Bethesda crew, who knows). In either case, it won't affect the game.

The issue with these types are that the script is assigned to the base record rather than assigned as needed to the specific references throughout the game. The only error here is that some instances of objects using such scripts are linked to an enable state parent (usually an Xmarker) so that they may be toggled on or off depending upon other game circumstances. The script fails on the enable or disable part, but should process the rest of the script. Again it won't affect your game.

 

It is impossible to have a game that is considered "error free" if you have papyrus logging enabled. There are many instances where scenarios are meant to play out but can't because the game hasn't progressed to that point, instead it errors because some value wasn't set and the script can't process that bit with a null value.

 

There are however a few instances of errors which can and will eventually cause issues. There are some cases where you can exit an area before the currently active scripts finish up their loop processing. In these cases, the loops will try to run indefinitely. steve40 has some corrected versions of these that can fix any current problems as well as prevent future instances.

The USKP has incorporated their own variations as well, but don't allow for correcting any existing instances of the issue.

 

One other thing you should note, the papyrus log does not equal a crash log. Its purpose is to ensure that added scripts are functioning properly. In most cases there is no time for anything to be written to the log when the crash occurs. I suggest paying specific attention to when you crash. See if there is something in come, an action, a mesh or texture, a location ,etc...

 

EDIT:

Regarding your "odd part" If you clean the esm files with TES5Edit and then verify the game with Steam, Steam will restore those cleaned esm files. Also there is a flagged bit somewhere that will always be restored after having started the game in a non-modded state. Steam always resets the game to a non-modded & unstarted state. This means that you have to re-initialize the game after each verification.

Hi IsharaMeradin and thanks for taking the time to reply to my issue it means a lot because i can start applying fixes right away. Your help is greatly reassuring to know that most of the logs are normal and shouldn't cause any issues. The issue occurs when I'm starting a new game and on the carriage to Helgen.. i can never make it to at least the gate w/o CTDs stopping me.

What I'm gonna do is apply USKP and see if it will let me.
If not ... I'll try Steve40's scripts and hope it will let me continue.
If not ... Download An Alternate Start and try to begin to see if it will affect my attempts.

These seem like valid attempts to fix the solution seeing as to how during that first sequence i cannot move or make acctions, textures are much the same as vanilla ones as well as meshes, and i cant imagine, but suspect that during that initial new game certain scripts as said before are executing and causing my issue. Thus Alternate start seems to be a good fix for it however i won't hold my breath and report my results after trying.

Edit: Reversed the order after looking over your insight, so Steve40's fixes for the script are better than USKP however i still should use USKP therefore install USKP then overwrite with Steve40's scripts I'm assuming this the ideal order?

I came to the conclusion that these errors exist with the DLC's starting their quest chain scripts before i have a chance to to finish the intro(where i don't have control of movement or can't preform actions). My reasoning is that when you pick up the Dawnguard quest chain for example, its from overhearing NPC's, asking innkeepers, or encounters, etc. this script is always executing in the background to make one of these situations happen through NPC's hence beginning the DLC quests... Therefore during the intro segment i think its trying to initialize these scripts through the NPC's while they have to run their own for the intro scripts (Obviously) which is causing a conflict or error.

I'm just guessing tho..


I believe to fix this issue the best fix available is simply an Alternate start where i can hope for the best and potentially not deal with such issues from the intro in a regular environment as if i was playing the game with my saves initialized and character created.

 

Edit 3: Upon using Alternate Start I CTD when i interact with the bed after choosing my story. Here is the Last testing log i'll post from the fixes i said i would try...

 

I'm all out of ideas for the time being and await someones reply.

What mods do you have installed? Have you tried a purely stock game without any dlcs, plugins, or replacer type mods? I have no clue what could be causing your crash. To me, it sounds like too many mods and your game is choking on them. Your system is decent and much better than mine. I have no idea why it would be crashing. The only time I ever had issues with the trip to Helgen was when I had too many mods installed and the game couldn't handle it.

 

I suggest the following...

-- Uninstall all mods including SKSE

-- Delete your data folder

-- Verify the game with Steam

-- Verify the Creation Kit with Steam (if you have it)

-- Start the default game launcher & let it re-initialize the ini files

-- Open the data files option and disable all dlcs.

-- Open the options option and make whatever adjustments there you want.

-- Enter the game and start a new game.

-- See what happens

 

If you still crash after that, I'm clueless

If you don't crash, activate the dlcs/mods one at a time till you do crash. Note the last one you activated before you crashed. Deactivate it and try again. Deactivate the others and try just the one that was last activated when you crashed. If it crashes with just that mod/dlc active then the problem lies with that mod/dlc.

Yea thanks again I'm currently installing it again after deleting the game, The saves in MyDocuments, and the Local files in Appdata as well as NMM and any remaining files and starting over hoping to get a fresh save then try enabling them one at a time like you said.

 

Thanks for everything If this fails ... and i seriously cant imagine this failing this is literally installing the game from Scratch w/ no mods but the Master files.... I guess i cant play skyrim :(

Dude im having the exact same problem as you iv tried several fixes including uninstalling all mods, cleaning saves and starting a new game with zero mods or dlc's enabled and im still ctd after a minute or two :( this sucks I hope it can get sorted soon.

I fixed my issue here is what i did and i'll post it for you to try at your own risk but then again its not really a risk.

 

If you didn't know how to do a complete fresh install:

 

1. Delete your game via steam under the properties option when you right click skyrim-->properties-->Delete local game content or something like that

2. Delete your saves in MyDocuments-->games-->Skyrim

3. Under C:\Users\(Your profile)\AppData\Local\Skyrim delete that skyrim folder as well, if you cant see Appdata its a hidden file so just google how to see hidden files and navigate there.

4. Clear all mods Make sure in your Steam folder there is no remaining content

5. Fresh Install Skyrim

 

I then started a new game with no mods up until your inside the keep and closed it and then enabled texture mods, body replacers, mesh replacers, etc nothing game changing just simple stuff. I didn't run BOSS or TES5Edit because i wanted to see if anything was wrong and sure enough my game worked.. however upon using them i was back at square 1 with crashes and errors.

 

I think it could just be me but maybe the optimization was out of date or something is wrong with either of those plugins but anyway i've been playing fine with no CTD's for like 2 days straight and up to 35-45 mods even began some chains with Dragonborn and Dawnguard HOWEVER im afraid to try SkyRe for fear it might change too much or cause problems

 

If you do try this and also use SkyRe let me know if its safe to use if you don't then tell me what happens either way
