Specific Mod Tags Disabled by Author

I attempted to find some information on this somewhere and couldn't, so please point me in the right direction if my question/comment is redundant.

Occasionally I try to do my part when browsing mods by selecting appropriate tags. Today was the first time I attempted to tag a mod with I term I think is appropriate, but was unable to, because the author has chosen to "disable" the use of that tag. I'm also guessing that the author has selected certain tags him/herself that they believe describe the mod, as this mod was uploaded less than a week ago and some tags have 99 "rep ups".

The mod is here.

I have nothing against this author or this mod. But, the anime-flavor to the companions, the females especially, is quite obvious. Yet, this author won't allow mod users to select "anime". The author has also (apparently) tagged it as "fair and balanced", which...I'm not sure it is or isn't. But, that also doesn't necessarily seem like the appropriate term to use for this mod. To me, if something is lore-unfriendly, it is inherently unbalanced...but that might just be me, lol.

At any rate, this seems counter to what the Nexus is striving to do with the tag feature, namely providing the community with the ability to pick terms that accurately describe the mod.

How does one define "anime-flavor"? In looking at the mod images I would have said "Tolkienesque", not anime in describing the companions offered. Seems like the definition is in the eye of the beholder and whatever the definition may be it is the modders choice to set the tags they feel may be appropriate or not. I don't see a problem with how the modder tagged the mod and it seems quite appropriate to me (lore friendly is also locked out). As already pointed out, seems rather trivial an issue.

I copy that. Looking at the screenshots provided, my first thought was "Why, nothing 'anime' to be seen here. Move along!" exactly, so I guess it 'is' in the eye of the beholder.

Then again, I can understand it, if people pro-actively 'prevent' the use of the "anime"-tag these days. Calling something anything 'anime' these days quickly has become a meme for trolling. (Yet they don't even know the 'definition'.)

I'm not going to get into a debate as to whether it "looks" anime or not. To me, it does. If I think so, there's a good chance I'm not the only one.

It also speaks volumes that the author specifically locked users out of tagging the mod as "anime". Probably because quite a few users might filter mods by trying to avoid that tag.

The issue I'm sure isn't one that is restricted to this mod, and I'm not targeting it "because" it is/isn't anime. The point of my question/comment is that if a mod author specifically locks the community out of utilizing a tag (for whatever reason) that accurately describes a mod, it seems counterproductive.

I'm also not saying this is a "huge" issue. I wasn't aware that an issue needed to be "huge" to post a comment on it. If I think I have a comment that might result in the betterment of the site, I'm going to make it.

Nonetheless, it would be nice to hear from a member of the Nexus Staff regarding this.

My avatar is "anime"

Those characters are not "anime"

Anime does not mean "pretty" or "big boobs" or "things I don't like but don't have a good category for".

Really? Thanks for clearing that up for me.

If I wanted my opinions to be disparaged, I'd go hang out on the BSN or WoW forums.

Up until now, I've always had a very positive experience with the Nexus Community. Glad to see there are always those out there who feel the need to belittle others, no matter the forum.

My question/comment stands.

Anime does not mean "pretty", or "big boobs", and I expect the author locked out down-repped that tag precisely because people who do not know what anime is seem to use it inappropriately as a label for other kinds of material.

We here at the Nexus give mod authors very, very wide latitude to describe and otherwise handle their works in whatever manner they choose. And we don't second-guess them regarding their deliberate choices unless something violated the Terms of Service (like a failure to tick the "Adult Content" box.)

So simple disagreement, with no insults and only the tiniest amount of sarcasm is now "disparagement"? You are not entitled to having everyone agree with your opinion, though you seem to disagree since you felt that your opinion is more important than the person who's mod we are discussing. What about their opinion? Oh wait, you went completely behind their back, didn't you?

My question/comment stands.

Well, several people, including at least one moderator, disagree. Doesn't that mean that, by your own standards, you are belittling our opinion?
