Bethini vs OneTweak w/ NVTF

I'm roughing it in New Vegas again. This time around I am getting acquainted with the tools and I found several for one of the biggest headaches which causes problems with the settings because STEAM replaces the Fallout New Vegas pages when we go to STEAM to adjust or do a Verify Integrity of Files. No. 1 thing it does is resets and makes ReadOnly: the Fallout.ini and Falloutdefault.ini.

I found BethINI New Vegas, built back during the year 2020 uploaded in July, first. I wondered about it, studied it, and thought to go deeper and get the open source stuff to compare. Of course I got distracted and found New Vegas Tick Fix. After some consideration about NVTF I installed it.

I was about to go back to play the game. Only; I got sidetracked afterward by aches and pains. (note 1.) What do you know?! This afternoon I signed in and found New Vegas Tick Fix has a new version uploaded today. To Fix it.

I noted another tool which makes it even better in the NVTF Options extras called, OneTweak created for Skyrim by virusek and Uploaded for Fallout: New Vegas to improve it by DirtyWeaselMedia!

Is the NVTF more complicated good alone? Or better by adding the OneTweak tool? Good or just more complicated having to use two instead of just BethINI? Does BethINI do the INIs good; like NVTF and OneTweak?

??????

(note 1. : Even though I am warm and cozy indoors when it drops down to the low freezing points outside the building I get aches and pains like I just got hurt and am just recovering from the surgery after the pain relievers start wearing off. The temperature dropped to -22 degrees F. and stayed that way all night. Getting worn out and old tends to do that. Follow important rules about Job Site Safety and live a better life with less pain and have less regrets. If we get broke, hurt bad enough when we get older we can't play like we used to anymore.)

These three tools all do different things.

Bethini reorganizes the game default INI files in an attempt to make them easier to understand. It might help you to understand what some settings are related to. Personally I prefer to rely upon creating my own backup copy of the INI files in the "Users" folder, as marking a file "Read Only" can be ignored. In addition, the JIP LN NVSE mod will create a "FalloutCustom.INI" file in that folder, which lets you place all your customisations in one file and will override any settings in the default INI files. As the base game doesn't recognize that file, it won't touch it and is thus safe against unintended changes even if you were to "verify local files".

OneTweak is a "fake fullscreen" app. It uses "Windowed mode", so you can <Alt+Tab> out of the game, but makes it look as if "full screen mode". That's all. No direct affect on the game itself that I have heard of, and I use it myself.

NVTF is the replacement for "New Vegas Stutter Remover" (NVSR) and is getting to be similarly complex in that it has technical options. It is continually undergoing improvements. You can just go with the defaults and be safe. You should avoid "tweaking" it until you understand just what you are changing and it's anticipated impact on your game. The good news is it doesn't affect "save game" files, so any changes only affect the current game session.

You will probably want to combine NVTF with "New Vegas Heap Replacer (NVHR)". That provides the primary missing component from NVSR.
