Soft Lock When Hit With Plasma Weapons

I've been trying to solve this for 2 days and just cant seem to find the solution. I've narrowed it down to just a soft lock/crash when my character is hit with a plasma projectile. However it seems to be fine when I hit others with plasma projectiles. I am completely stumped and would greatly appreciate any insight regarding this issue. No specific ideas (not even sure what you mean by "soft lock" except that you don't have to reboot to regain control), so here are some general thoughts.

You should always start troubleshooting from any error messages you can see. (They are your best "clue"; and why they exist at all.) We don't expect you to be able to interpret those messages, but reporting such accurately is an essential first step.

Anytime the game "Crashes to the Desktop" (CTD) it's typically going to generate an error message in the Windows Eventlog because both the game engine and Windows itself was not able to predictably handle the error. Please see the "Windows Error Messages" section of the wiki "How to read most Bethesda game error logs" article.

Logs generated by the game itself (not Windows) are found in the game folder, where the "FalloutNV.EXE" file is located. They generally have the ".log" file extension, or a filename with "_log" in the name and a ".txt" extension.

* If you have to force an interruption to the game, you should always exit it to the desktop and then reload, so it rebuilds the game environment completely. Simply exiting to the "Main Menu" is not enough, as can be demonstrated by tripping a "trap" and see that it is not reset from the menu point.

* You really need to use a "Merge Patch File" with that collection of mods. Please see the 'Third Rule: The Rule of One' and 'Merge Patch File' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

* You have a number "major overhaul" mods in combination. Because they are wide ranging in what they change the possibility of adverse interactions is increased. Couple that with how new "The Frontier" is, and you are probably going to need to engage the procedure described in the 'Mod Conflict Isolation' section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article to isolate the conflict.
