VORTEX Highlight icons?

Skinjack

Recommended Posts

Hi, I know this seems to be a rather silly request, but does anybody know were I can find some pictures for the icons from the Highlights tab in VORTEX? I'm talking the lightning bolt, eye, etc. I've been looking online and can't find anything with any kind of quality or size that I can use. I would assume something 300x300 dpi or around there would suffice.

I'm making a chart for what color and Icon choice I use to identify certain types of mods, ie if they are esp, espfe, skse, interface, etc. This is just my way of keeping track of which mods are of which type. For example, I made any mod without an esp that won't take up a spot in my loadlist (whether it be meshes & textures, espfe/esl, animation, etc) as the color yellow. Yellow will always denote a light or non-esp mod, but it can have different icons for each file type. I really have a poor memory for remembering things like this, so I have a tendency to write things down or make charts, etc.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would extremely appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Vortex uses svg icons, that is: they can be scaled arbitrarily large.

Unfortunately the icon set we use in Vortex is commercial so I can't just direct you to a download but there are other free sets here: https://material.io/resources/icons/?icon=language&style=baseline

and here: https://fontawesome.com/icons?d=gallery

You can download them as svg and then convert them to png in a graphics program (gimp, inkscape, ... probably not paint though) or an online service at whatever size you want.

So I've run into an "issue" or two using highlights instead of renaming the mods with a descriptive prefix. Not really issues, per se, more like "Why didn't you / can't I...

Right now all of my mods have a prefix (esp, espfe, skse, int, etc) so I was easily able to change the highlight to the icon I wanted based on the name. However, there is no batch changing, ie they all had to be done individually. With 700+ mods that takes a while. Is there any way (or plans to include in future updates) a way to select all the mods you want highlighted a certain color/icon and then click the highlight to change them all without having to do each one separately? A little boring doing them one by one.

Also, I noticed this morning when you update a mod that the highlight you gave it does not stay. For example, I made Origins of Forest a blue house since it has an esp (my nonsensical system, I know) but when I updated it the icon changed back to a white eye. Any way to keep the highlights when mods are updating? Have I been updating wrong? Any plans on updating this in the future?

One final thing, which also isn't a huge deal. How would one customize the CSS to allow the highlight column to be placed between the Status and Mod Name columns on the Mods Tab? It just makes more sense to me to have it right next to the name of the mod. I'm afraid my CSS is six-years-old-rusty. Maybe it is just me and I'm the only one using highlights like this. I've never really used them before, so this is an experiment.

These questions may have been asked before, so I apologize if they have.

Batch changing icons is possible in 1.4 which is currently in beta.

Regarding keeping the icon upon update, please create a request through vortex feedback or directly on github and I'll look into it.

The order of columns can't be controlled through css I'm afraid. I'm pretty sure there is already a request on github for a way to change the column order

Thank you for the reply Tannin. Good news about the first issue. I'll put in a vortex feedback request on the second. And good on the third. What would actually be nice on number 3 (cuz your never going to make everyone happy - people like me are out there  ) is the ability to arrange the columns by yourself, like you can on the Dashboard. Not sure if that is possible, but maybe I'll add the suggestion on my feedback.

You did give me code before to change a cloned theme where the flagged icon on the Plugins tab changed position to where it was next to the Enabled button. I still have that code. I was just thinking it could be used somehow on the Mods tab is all. But it is probably more complex because you have a choice between highlights and don't for auto-populated flags.

EDIT: Crap. You are in sooooo much trouble. I sent my first feedback and decided I like it. :)
