Black Screen After Loading

I like to think of myself as competent when it comes to modding Skyrim. I can usually diagnose and repair problems caused by mods, but I can't seem to crack this one.

 

Every once in a while, and this can be anywhere from every five minutes to every other hour, I'll go through a load door and after loading receive nothing but a black screen. When this happens I have no other option than to close it via task manager. After I get the black screen I'll have some ambient noise, but no control, HUD, or dialogue. Sometimes the game will create the autosave before locking up, but loading that autosave will always result in the same black screen. So far, I've always been able to go back to a previous save, try the door again, and have it work.

 

I have a rather large mod list, so before I get into messing with that I was wondering if anybody else had encountered a similar problem, and if so, how did you handle it?

Yeah. See, this is why you turn off the autosave. This is normal behavior for a Bethesda game. This is exactly why I always quicksave right before I enter a new location. Sometimes, it isn't the dreaded freeze. Sometimes the static for the whole room will mysteriously fail to appear, and you drop to the bottom the game engine's ethereal plane or whatever they call it.

Would turning off the autosave fix the problem? Or are you suggesting I turn off the autosave just so I don't end up with a corrupted save?

If your problem is corrupted saves, then yes that fixes it. It doesn't fix the fact that the game will freeze up on you for no apparent reason.

I had the Same. I had to much listed in [Terrain Manager] for the Zfighting fix.

 

Google STEP Z-Fighting and copy and paste their tweak and you'll be good.

add this towards the bottom:

this is S.T.E.P. Z-Fighting Fix. I had a couple more integers added to [TerrainMannager] and I got the dreaded Infinite Loading Screen/Black Screen with Sound, going from Interior to Exterior.

 

Doing this Worked for Me.

And I am Finally starting to learn to verify and re-verify ini tweaks I find. Cause this was a simple but time consuming mistake.

Hi, I just installed the necessary mods for the realvision enb mods package and some other package to add armour,weapon hair type and eyes color, and now I got the same probleme sometime when I enter somewhere where it need to load, and sometime I got some bugg like the picture become real dark with a lot of color like a rainbow, and if I look in the sky the picture come back to normal but if I look back to where I was looking it start again with all the color and drakness so at this point I need to restart the game like for the black Screen loading problem. I will try to deactivate the autosave and to try what AYLeiDRuiN posted, if not working i let you know.

 

my spec are:

Windows 8.1 pro 64 bits

cpu: amd phenom II X6 3.3ghz (6 core cpu)

16gb ram

GPU: Sapphire R9 280X tri-X oc 4gb, I got the uefi option on on the card i will try without the uefi option off too, just in case.

with the latest driver 14.4

two monitor with extended Windows mode, playing on 1 monitor in full screen.

 

i got the game from steam( but i use the SKSE.exe to start the game for SKUI), and i have raptr running on the game, i will try deactivating raptr too.

 

-only deactivating auto save did not work.

-deactivating raptr, battle.net and origin launcher did not helped too.

-trying what AYLeiDRuiN posted just give me a continously loading screen.

I had black screen with background sounds after load issue. Tried STEP Z-Fighting fix - it didn't help. Then I tried to delete Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini from saves location, then run launcher, it created new ones and black screen had gone. I decided to discover which config changes caused this. I started copying config lines from old Skyrim.ini to new one and black screen returned after adding this:

[MapMenu]
uLockedObjectMapLOD=8 

It's recommended for A Quality World Map - With Roads mod.

I'm not sure that it caused the issue, because I had this mod installed for a long time.
