I am trying to follow STEP to get to modding Skyrim, I am not tech savvy despite having Asperger's. the set up is proving to be quite infuriating especially after my many attempts to follow YouTube video's before even finding out about STEP yesterday. Can someone dumb it down for me?

Just persevere and ensure you read the instructions carefully. STEP is one of the best resources for newbies as you don't have to be tech savvy, just reasonably methodical. You could also ask for help on the STEP forums.

i had almost finished STEP 3 and was going to do a check in LOOT but now I am having issues getting into LOOT and even the desktop shortcut disappeared, I obviously messed up somewhere but I don't know how to fix it, or if it will fix latter. thanks for reminding me about asking on STEP's forum, I'm not really used to using a forum so I had forgotten to look for theirs. >_< thanks for putting up with my uninformed self and for providing direction and encouragement. ^_^

If you're using MO2, run LOOT through MO2 - there are instructions for doing that in STEP.

If you're using Vortex, LOOT is built into Vortex so no need for a separate install.

I'm using Mod Organizer 2 because most people suggested it, i did manage to fix the disappearing LOOT issue, just feel stupid for making the mistake in the first place.

in STEP there is that huge list of mods, any recommendations, the instructions there seem vague or optional/suggestive?

I'm waiting for them to respond as well...so no rush on answers.
