M0PARMAN
A short description of my problem: I’ve never had a problem with Skyrim: Special Edition loading up… even with many mods running. It will not open. Period. System Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 - 950 @ 3.07GHz RAM: 16.0GB System: 64-bit / x64-based processor OS: Windows 10 Home OS drive free space: 81.5GB Skyrim drive free space: 81.0GB Video Card: eVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 960 Steps Taken to play Skyrim SE: Attempted to start Skyrim with SKSE… Didn’t load Verified enough disk space on OS drive and Skyrim storage drive…. Didn’t load Updated SKSE …. Didn’t load Disabled all mods…. Didn’t load Removed SKSE…. Didn’t load Updated Video Card Driver…. Didn’t load Verified integrity of all Skyrim files… Didn’t load Checked system for other missing or out of date drivers…. Didn’t load Attempted to launch via .exe. in Skyrim directory…. Didn’t load Attempted to launch via Steam Library…. Didn’t load Attempted to launch via nVidia GeForce Experience (after optimization) …. Didn’t load Checked Firewall… not blocked….Didn’t load Checked Anti-Virus… not blocked… Didn’t load No viruses found No malware found Uninstalled Skyrim SE from Steam... downloaded fresh copy and installed... Didn't load. Changed SkyrimSE.exe & SkyrimSELauncher.exe to "Run As Administrator" under their Properties settings... Didn't load. Skyrim will show up in Task Manager and shows as “Very High Usage” on the Power tab… Skyrim will not “stop” via command in Steam Library In order to stop Skyrim from running in the background, it must be “End Tasked” in the Manager. I don’t know what has gone crazy with this game, but I have NEVER had issues running Skyrim. I'm stumped, at this point. wfandrews
This is the Legendary forum. However what I would advise you to do is make SSE vanilla again. What many people do not seem to realize is that when you uninstall a game in Steam all it does is delete local files, as it says. This leaves many hundreds of files behind. When you reinstall with Steam all those files are loaded often defeating the purpose for which you reinstalled the game in the first place. In the Skyrim Special Edition forum on Steam go to the pinned topics at the top of the forum page, open the pinned topic "Skyrim SE: Guides and Resources:" by Ilja, scroll down to "Making Skyrim vanilla again." and follow that guide. This way you will know you are starting with a completely clean slate and can start to build your modded game from that.

Hannibal139
Did you try launching it in win 7 compatibility mode? And do you have all versions visual c++ installed in your pc? Edited February 23, 2021 by Hannibal139
