Fast Travel Twice... and Crash.

Fast travel once? No problem.

Fast travel another time? Crash to desktop.

This happened after I downloaded the BHUNP body mod and BodySlide. (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31126)

The problem did not go away after I deactivated them.

afaik the body model has nothing to do with it.

 

Sometimes fast travel crashes the game.

Sometimes going thru a door crashes the game.

sometimes loading a save chokes and the game crashes

sometimes spending too much time outdoors ... crashes the game.

sometimes an iffy mod crashes the game. BHUNP isn't one of them.

 

skyrim isn't a triple redundant, mil spec piece of software. It's being pushed to its limits routinely by our mods.

 

Mine often crashes when I exceed my GPU's memory. sometimes due to some bloat that collects over play time. It happens.

 

I'd worry if it consistently crashes whenever you attempt to fast travel. For instance I dumped LAL because it made my game completely unstable. I was unable to fast travel and I was unable to get anywhere near pretty much any city when I had it installed.

 

try to avoid multiple fast travel events back to back. I think the game can get cluttered with stuff it needs to purge from your last world space (I don't know that for sure, but I have experienced it myself and that's what my nose tells me)

 

Otherwise, your best solution is (usually) to open the game back up, load your last save, and move on.

I can fast travel, play for half an hour, and then fast travel again and it crashes.

Pardon my vast stupidity, but could the issue be that I have too many mods and that's causing the game to crash?

idk possibly it has to do with the number of mods, (I think that's unlikely ... I have 321 mods currently installed, and although I didn't count your posted plugin list, I think that exceeds your count by quite a few), or perhaps a quasi stable mod.

 

I've pitched many mods in the virtual trashbin when they cause instabilities in my game. LAL, OSA/OSEX, a variety of environmental mods like a couple of popular weather mods, some grass and floral mods, some player homes, etc.

 

And btw... I hope my response didn't make you feel like I thought that, or think you're a dumbass or stupid, I never said that, nor did I, or do I mean that.

I'm afraid you probably already know the dark draconian solution. if not

 

If no earlier savefile will load correctly (presuming the game's main menu will even load) and not result in "immediate" or quick CTDs,

 

Start uninstalling mods in reverse order of installation! until the game will load and you can at least load an older savefile successfully. In really bad situations, I've gone back as far as 50 levels, like I had to do after updating from 1.5.80 to 1.5.97 (and similarly when I had updated to 1.5.80 from the previous version)

 

Once you have found a savefile that *will load correctly,

1. make a new save from wherever you are, then clean it using Fallrim tools, restart Skyrim, then load that save.
2. Get and stay indoors, ideally in a player home that's fully equipped with crating stations (so you can at least make some time boosting skills or just making stuff)
3. sleep wait, craft, etc. for several game days
4. make a news save
5. exit the game
6. clean that new save
7. open the game
8. load the most recently saved file

Sometimes this even resolves issues for more recent saves. dunno why, but whatever. But that's a lucky thing in my experience, I usually have to start from wherever I was able to find a stable load and stable save.

 

 

PS> Once that is all done,. Avoid fast travel for a while. After my experience with Live another Life (LAL), I stopped fast traveling for about a month and a half (in human time) , because my crappy experience with LAL and constant CTDs put me off completely.
