Skyrim-intro-cart Issue and Vortex Profiles? RE: Skyrim SE, Solved?

After all this time, users are still reporting the Cart-Intro-Flipping Issue, as late as 2021, on Skyrim SE, as visits to the forums will attest.

 

Thus, we hope this proactive post helps some users.

 

We recently purchased on STEAM and installed Skyrim SE.

 

We did NOT install SRSE to our program files on our main drive.

 

Instead, we installed it on partition E of our hard drive.

 

Next, before starting a new game and playing, we started Vortex, and, without adding or installing any mods through Vortex, we cloned the first discovered SE profile twice, and named these second and third Skyrim profiles "SRSE Vanilla1/Vanilla 2", respectively, and enabled save games on both.

 

With zero mods installed, STILL LOGGED I|NTO STEAM, we started up SE on the Vanilla 1 profile, and passed through the Intro, successfully, not a single issue. Naturally, we saved a game inside Helgen Keep--and quit.

 

Afterward, we logged off STEAM, and started up SE again, and our saved game was fine and we could continue.

 

Next we started Vortex, offline, so we could start installing and enabling our preferred mods. We intend to continue from our saved Helgen Keep game, now with our mods installed--now that we're past the Intro. If we get CTD, that will be a different issue than the Intro one.

 

What we haven't tried yet is starting a brand new game, from the get-go, offline from STEAM/Vortex.

 

We intend to use our Vanilla 2 profile to test that offline-from-STEAM/Vortex preference, still with NO mods installed. Before we do, we will clone Vanilla 2, name it "SRSE Mod Pack," play the Intro through on Vanilla 2 with no Mods installed, all offline, and see what happens. We expect it to be fine. We won't touch our Skyrim first-install Vortex iteration at all.

 

 

If we do not report back, everything went fine.

I'm not really sure what this post is about.

 

The "intro cart issue" is well documented to be caused by either too many script heavy mods running on startup (see mods like Live Another Life for workarounds) or your FPS going above 60 which breaks the physics engine.

Our wall of text doesn't really say, does it?

 

We saw people are still having the issue. They may not understand it as you do so simply above. (You can find posts worrying over this issue by new SRSE players on the forums as recently as last month.)

 

We were simply trying to show that by leveraging the very powerful Vortex Profiles feature with no Mods enabled at start-up they can avoid the cart-flipping.

 

We find the profile-feature of Vortex very helpful.
