Replacing the player character's sound set with an NPC's one

Hello everyone

I've got a seemingly simple request, but I don't know where to start. What steps do I need to take if I wanted to replace the Warden's default sound set (ss_pc_mdwarf_wise.dlg) with Lord Ronus Dace's (zz_ss_lordronusdace.dlg)? I looked at the latter's 'Conversation' tree in the Toolset and he does have combat lines, so that means it should work, right? But how do I actually do this? Also why are some files prefixed with 'zz' and some aren't?

No idea why there are zz- prefixes sometimes and not others.

I wrote a tutorial on how to change the player character voice set in an existing save, but it sounds like you want to change it at chargen and for all voice options, and I'm not sure how that can be done. (No toolset, so I can't examine the assets. :-/)

Changing in a save is super-easy, though.

Thank you for the tutorial, I'll make sure to bookmark it. But I already knew about editing a save game, unfortunately that didn't work. I read a guide on Fextralife by the author of the mod that removes the "ladder" comment from one of the male voice sets that details how to add a custom voice set, but I don't understand most of the technical verbiage lol. I can link it if you want: https://fextralife.com/forums/p1918079/status-pc-soundset-implementation/. Since the voice I want to use (Ronus Dace) already exists in-game, the process is probably less lengthy but it's still above my novice level knowledge of modding

I guess I wanted to know if there was an easier way of creating a "custom" sound set than the method explained in the Fextralife topic lol. It would be too easy to screw up a step and have my game stop working

Since editing your save doesn't work for some reason, have you tried this script? > REDEFINE YOUR HERO VOICE or anyone else NPCs supported?

I can't offer any suggestions on creating custom voice sets - it's been years since I did anything with DAO sound files - but I suspect that there is not an easier way than the information on Fextralife (which was archived from the old Bioware Social Networks site).
