No Player Arrow on either world or local map

I've been modding Oblivion for my sibling, mostly things to improve gameplay and stabilize the game, and have come across a glitch where the player arrow (and only the player arrow, no other location markers) is missing from both the local and world maps. The maps still centers on the player location, however.

 

According to them, this started around the time I installed Dynamic Maps (I do not know if that is the time it actually happened as I am not the one playing). I have tried uninstalling the Dynamic Maps mod but the arrow is still missing. Additionally, I have tried installing Map Marker Overhaul (and specifically chose the option that the player arrow would appear on maps) but it still does not show up. All of my sibling's save files have this glitch on them as well.

 

I have checked the Oblivion.ini file and made sure uGridsToLoad is set to 5. I have heard that this might have to do something with Cell 3,3 being edited but I have no idea what that is and my attempts at finding information on it have just led me back to the original posts about missing map markers that I found that information on.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I do recall I got the same problem at some point and I got so damn tired of the loading time of Dynamic Maps, so I flushed it. Try to disable it and see if the player marker gets back and do consider if you really need that mod if it does. You can still use the icons that came with it anyway if you want too.

Huh, looks like it worked this time. A bit sad I can't keep the zoom in/out feature but knowing where you are is more important. Thank you!

It sure is. :smile: I also changed the map to Elven Map, which I feel is the most appealing one and I also changed the local map to color as that white/grey look is not appealing to me at all, which is done in the Oblivion.ini and if you have not tried it, then just change bLocalMapShader=1 to

bLocalMapShader=0

My local map looks like this now:

For the record.... one of my favorite immersive tweaks was to actually remove the player marker from the map. It makes navigating much more immersive.
