Would you recommend this game? I was thinking about getting it because I read a while ago they were going to update it with all the RTX stuff.

After experiencing RT & DLSS in several games, I'm sold, but I haven't played any of the Metro games before.

Well IDK about the RTX features outside of global illumination for this game, but it's worth noting that they're all turned off for my screenshots.
This game's strong suit is really exploring the environment and particularly the dark, horror inducing interiors. The story/characters are OK, but nothing really special. They do go on sale pretty frequently though so you can pick them up for cheap.

With what you described, seems like RT will only enhance those features even more.

Guess I can pick it up when it's on sale again. I'll be lost with the characters/story, but that should be ok lol.

It's not critical to play the earlier ones, honestly. You'll figure out the basics of the world in the intro section of Exodus lol.
As for the global illumination, it's kindof a mixed bag as the RT global illumination is more accurate than the traditional effect but more accurate can mean less interesting shadows sometimes too. Thanks for the vid. With the update that's suppose to come out soon, seems like they may fix that issue.

Not exactly sure what's being implemented in the new update, but I'm pretty sure they might add RT shadows to help.
It's a free update for those that own the game, so it might be worth while replaying again with the fancy stuff, that's of course
if you have the GPU to handle it.
