I have a very embarrassing question

OK - maybe more than one. First, how do you get a screenshot? I've tried the Prt Scrn button but obviously, that's not it. And B, you know those still shots that play as you are waiting for the game to load? The crouching Khajiit, the wood elf with bow in hand, the female red-headed mage with the staff? Where are those? Are they anywhere on my hard drive, or are they on the servers? The reason I ask this last one is that I want to carve a top for a walking stick like the stylized dragon staffs. There is a beautiful shot of a copper one and a gray one at times, but when I try to capture it in a screenshot, well, you know the rest.

Thanks to everyone that answers either one of these questions, and to everyone who resists the powerful urge to scream NOOOOOB at me. I really appreciate it!

Screenshots: Print Screen button creates BMP files in your Skyrim directory if you have bAllowScreenshot=1 under [Display] in your Skyrim.ini file. You can define the Skyrim screenshot number with iScreenShotIndex= in your SkyrimPrefs.ini file. Otherwise, you can use f12 or whatever other key you have configured to use with Steam for in game screenshots. Pictures taken with Steam will be buried kinda deep in your Steam folder. Should be Steam > userdata > 105170149 > 760 > remote > 72850

As far as the loading screen stuff... the meshes are located in the Skyrim - Meshes.bsa and the corresponding textures in the Skyrim - Textures.bsa. They are not actual pictures but rather a displayed 3d mesh that you can rotate on screen while you wait for it to load.

I didn't know one could rotate those images. You learn something new every day. Thanks!

Spottedog, if you have an nVidia graphics card, try EVGA Precision (free software from their website). It will let you take screenshots in several formats and do a lot of other stuff as well. Also, when you want to take a screenshot, open the console and enter tm to get rid of the informational clutter on the screen. Entering it again will restore it.

I use FRAPS for screenshots. You can select what folder you want the images to be saved in so you don't need to go hunting for them. It will also give you an FPS readout ingame if you are interested in that info. On my system images are taken with FRAPS by pressing F10.
