I want back my lovely Fallout3/ Oblivion Music system...

Recently i discovered (yeah i know i´m late on that;)), that the FONV-music-system is completely different from the one used in FO3 and Oblivion and i was, well, pissed.

Because for quite a few months i collected and edited a whole bunch of tracks for a good playthrough (with TTW in mind) just to find out, that i couldn´t just drop as many of them as i like into the respective folders so the game would randomly pick on of them, like it was in the previous games.

I have no idea how to add new tracks to the game without just replacing the existing ones (and simply replacing the originals would also cause problems because of track length etc...)- so actually i want to replace the existing tracks PLUS adding a bunch of new ones, but the music system FONV introduces is just garbage in my opinion and i don´t know how to work with it, so...maybe someone has an idea to bring back the great simplicity of the previous games via a NVSE plugin or something...

Thanks for interest

OK, another very annoying thing i noticed is that if a battle lasts longer than the picked battle-music-track is in length, the same song starts to play over and over and over again...

Tried to change the respective media controllers from "Random" to "Loop" and back to "Random"- nothing helps...as i said, what a sh.... system...

The music system was expanded to give the level-designer total control over what kind of music plays in a given situation in order to fit the mood and context of the level.

In Oblivion, you couldn't give a dungeon or town a specific theme with specific battle music. You just define a place like "This is a Dungeon" , and the game randomly picks a song from the Dungeon folder, then plays a random track from the Battle folder when you enter combat.

The Media Controllers allow you to say "In this area, Play *this song* while exploring, and play *this song* when in combat".

As such you can't just replace the actual music files, you need to learn how to actually work with Media Controllers if you want change music and have it work properly.

Well, i understand what you are saying and it´s logical, but for the sake of simplicity i´m willing to sacrifice "total control" over every area and situation and rather prefer a system, where you can easily put a hundred tracks into a folder and call it a day- in my humble opinion, things do not have to be that complex.

Nevertheless, i figured out how to make it so that all of my music is randomly picked, but the second problem persists: One track for one battle. If the fight takes longer than the played battle-track, this specific track will be picked again every single time, until the battle ends. This seems to be a problem with the vanilla tracks as well, so i guess it´s an issue with the game itself...

things do not have to be that complex.

They do if you want your horror area to play horror music and your cowboy area to play cowboy music. The Oblivion/FO3 system is terrible because you're forced to use generically applicable tracks instead of more individualized ones to avoid tone discrepancies.

The same track is repeating because you need to add additional Media Sets to the Media Location Controller. You can think of the MLC as a playlist. Or more accurately, a collection of playlists that are used contextually. For battles, you would want to add tracks (media sets) under Battlesets.

It's really not a particularly complicated system.

So after quite some testing and disabling every single mod plus NVSE plugins, i figured that the problem still persists. I´ve tested it with a clean unmodded (TTW)-save-file- battle tracks will constantly repeat and do not switch to another one, no matter what. So i have to assume that this issue is some sort of engine bug...
