  1. From the sound of things we are going into Serial Experiments Lain territory. The theory being that we are never free unless we can unchain our conciousness from our bodies and be free to roam as energy.
  2. Short answer to OP: There is no such thing as total freedom. Though there is freedom. Going by the world today it is obvious that communism and socialism didn't work. Long answers: First... Total freedom is a lie, everyone will control something. If there was "NO" government 'control' and the only thing the government did was deliver mail and form an army for protection against foreign powers and kept records of who owns what (similar to the original idea of the U.S.), then there would be other large groups that would take over. Probably corporations or militia/municipal control would be established to keep things together. Lets say its a totally civilian funded volunteer militia that polices, protects, and maintains some areas... even if meant to be as free as possible, it will still be a form of control. Even if we go on a smaller scale and say a single family owns 100 acres of land, and 'rents/leases' it out. In the absence of laws set by a governing body they would just make rules and enforce them themselves. However that all being said, I would still prefer the 'more freedom' I get in a capitalist libertarian country than have to put of with Socialist, communist, fascist control from other countries. The 50 states are (were) technically different countries all united under one simple law of the US Constitution (now its muddied with TONS of unneeded stupid federal laws and regulations, but the original idea is still somewhat in tact) if I dislike the way something is happening where I live, I can just move to a different county or state due to the decentralized nature of the U.S. I wouldn't ever want to live in California due to the heavy socialist leaning the laws and the resulting massive debt the state is trying to keep everyone distracted from, but the US isn't just California I have 49 other states (all with their own pro's and cons) to chose from. Then each county (basically "provinces" of the individual 50 States/sub countries in the united states) has their own pros/cons. Second... The Soviet experiment failed miserably and the European socialist experiment is failing (Greece, France, the UK, etc...). India just went democratic with capitalist themes within the last decade while Japan and S. Korea are both thriving wonderfully under a more capitalist themed system. Of course just like the US, Japan and Korea have a few socialist aspects, which is fine. I find that mixing the two together while leaning as far to capitalism as you can seems to work best. As well as leaning to less government regulations and more choice up to the individual. Japan and Korea seem a bit more controlling than I like, but its no where near the off the charts levels of many heavy socialist leaning countries. Note: I do think that many socialist ideas are fine. Social Security systems, the idea of free healthcare (though for the US I think it should be a mix of free government hospitals and then ones we have now), and the idea of free/reduced education to keep the citizens of your state healthy and capable to work in the capitalist system are needed. For anyone curious... The healthcare system mentioned. If we had "at least" one free state ran hospital per state (obviously more depending on population and distance), that could care for impoverished citizens as well as anyone that 'chooses' to use it, while keeping insurance/monetary hospitals around as well... then you would get a very good mix of socialist healthcare and American paid systems. Anyone that needs to (or wants to) put up with the waiting and possibly under-preforming aspects of a free system could use the government provided hospitals... while others that are able can choose to pay insurance and go to a privatized corporation hospital. VA hospitals used by veterans in the US are a good indicator of the level of sub-quality that would most likely infect the general government hospitals. However this seems to happen to all free/government ran hospital systems to a degree, so it is to be expected. This dual system would be a simple answer to those calling for free healthcare and those wanting healthcare to stay the same. *Does a pew-die-pie voice*- "Why not both".
  3. Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, Tropico 5, Halo 2/3/Rch, and Minecraft. Though with MC I tend to loose nostalgia quickly and log out in disgust at how convoluted and BS filled the game is now. I used to play on alpha MC servers, and I still remember when they first added rivers and cave systems into the game. It was so simplistically beautiful back then. Now they are adding things like panda bears? WTF. Sometimes I might go through one of the CoD MW (1-3) campaigns, or will want to play battlefield 3 or Hardline. Thought that happens way less than the others.
  4. Sorry for posting this late, but thank you for your help. I knew it was a simple work around, but I haven't messed with the inner workings of a mod in years. I thought I had posted a thank you the day I read it, but must have forgotten to.
  5. The only way you would find someone willing to do this is if they are invested in the idea as well. Making models is a time sink. That is why it is so rare to find added models on a large scale. Not only would someone need to sink 20+ (for sure +) hours into making the models, they would then have to take time to animate them as well. Which could take another 5-10 hours worth of work. Texturing isn't as hard as you can usually find easy work around and visual tricks to get an effect you want, but that can take 5 hours too if your doing it well. Yes it can be done, yes you could even port it to XBox ONE as well, but the work it would take is extremely daunting.
  6. I am using the mod BB T3 armor replacer and want to fix one thing I dislike about it. I prefer the full leather armor as normal, instead of the midriff armor that the mod seems to use as a replacer. Both armors are in the mod, but I am not experienced and would just like advice on switching the replacer to the full set instead of the midriff set. I spent about 2 hours trying myself and couldn't figure it out. Any advice on how I can swap them? I am an experienced modder, but not an experienced mod editor/author. I plan to use this as a personal use mod, and not upload it. Mainly just want to try my hand at editing files myself and such. Though the original author Exeter has the leather armors listed as free to use, and revang has it listed as free to edit if no response is given within 2 weeks. He has been offline since June of 2016, so I doubt that I will get any reply.
  7. I was playing a modded playthrough of FO4 as I have done many times before. I had just gotten done troubleshooting a mod (Armor pieces were showing up where they shouldn't have). I played for about 4-5 more minutes before what seemed like a run of the mill game freeze. When I tried to restart FO4, nothing. Just a black screen. I attempted standard troubleshooting steps (Closing out of the game while on dashboard, restarting) however, nothing worked. I then tried to go delete my mod save data cache, and it was gone. The normal saved data, and the mod data missing. I got irritated that I would need to re-install and decided to play a different game. This is when I found that it wasn't just FO4. MWRemaster, State of Decay 2, Titanfall 2, Farcry 5, Tropico 5, all save caches are missing, am still checking for the rest of my games. This is causing them all to enter endless load cycles as the game files load up. Am currently re-installing State of decay 2, will update. Have any of you had this issue, or heard of it before? Edit: At this point, I know the saved data's were corrupted somehow, and have wrote them all off as lost. I am looking for information on this issue as I couldn't find any articles/videos on it. I am also wanting to discover what exactly happened, and what mods might have been responsible. Will update more. I made a duplicate of this on Bethnet, but I have more faith in this community when it comes to help.https://bethesda.net/community/topic/220306/sos-all-saved-data-caches-from-all-my-xb1-games-erased-after-fo4-crash Update: I was told to make a MSsupport ticket on Bethnet. I replied optimisticly, hoping that that reinstalling the games would fix them. I just wanted info on what might have happened. However, I reinstalled State of Decay 2, when DL was complete, the game would not play from the 'play' button on the games hub. When trying to find the actual game in the "All games and apps" section, it is missing. I am trying Tropico 3 now, since its a smaller filesize. From the way things are looking I may have to make that MSsupport ticket. Update 2: Tropico 3 acted the same, am now doing a full console reset. Last update: Console reset did work, games are now playing. I still would love to discuss how this happened, and go over what mods might have caused it. If anyone is interested I can start a list of my xbox load order.
  8. if you had posted this exact comment a week earlier, i wouldn't have been able to agree more. you're still mostly right haha, but i've been feeling a bit optimistic recently about the issue with stolen mods on beth.net. over the last week (starting after Crimsomrider took his mods down), they've removed between 700-800 mods from WIP for FO4 for violating the Terms of Service of the site. that is a huge step in the right direction. it's definitely NOT an excuse for how long it's taken them to do something about the rampant theft there, and it doesn't mean that everything is fixed now. there are still over 2000 mods in WIP for fo4, most of which still probably violate the site rules/are stolen, but it is good to see Bethesda finally doing something. idk how it is for skyrim there since i've never played it, so i don't check out the mods for it, but i'd imagine it's pretty similar to fallout when it comes to stolen mods, so hopefully bethesda is working on fixing that too. This is my point. I have linked to other people saying this exact thing in my original posts (the one here or on bethnet). However no one seems to notice. Bethesda is taking action, "for now". So why don't we try and make a move right now while they are interested and trying to do damage control. If we can establish a real WIP reviewing and reporting "team" while they are taking an internist. We might be able to hold that interest for long enough to make a real point here. Plus everyone seems to be ignoring the other half of the problem that Crimsomrider brought up in their own post. There are many YouTubers that put a giant spotlight on these stolen mods, which makes hundreds flock to certain WIP's that would otherwise go unnoticed or uncared about. Its not going to be nearly as big of an issue if we can stop the YouTubers from waving neon arrows around. These YouTubers get direct profit from highlighting links to illegal mods. This is what I think we as a community could do more about.
  9. That is why I was hoping to try and get some feedback on a possible community action against the illegal mods. However it seems that everyone here has a disdain for the console users. Which is very misplaced... and that isn't just an opinion. Its an educated assessment based on the societal aspects of this situation. console user doesn't equal bad. Just like PC user doesn't equal good. We both have good and bad. I will agree that its.. 'more than annoying' to see the constant stream of "please port this" messages. However I feel almost as if us PC people are the rich and well off, while the console users are poor and starving people that were just let into our area. However they aren't aloud to eat unless we give them food. The last line of that analogy is the issue. Modding on consoles is good for gaming, but the obvious mistreatment of the console users is a big problem. If Bethesda had let a company that specialized in mod managing (*cough* Black Tree Gaming AKA Nexus) port their own mod manager to use with consoles. And just told them to keep out adult content... this issue wouldn't be an issue. It would have been the most obvious choice too... if sharing mods was honestly about the love of the community BS that Todd Howard spouts. However we all know that that wasn't the real reason. It seems that the mod size limit, the terrible mod manager, and the restrictions on PS4 are all helping to feed into Bethesda's "Creation Club". Hell, I even saw someone say "You need to put your mod on creation club so PS4 can use it."< That is the point. They are wanting everyone to pay for mods, and they are doing everything they can to push console users to do this. We can't do much about this fact Then on the other coin. Some console users dislike us because they think we are selfish and don't understand us or why Mod Authors wouldn't want to share things there that they do here. Then a majority of them have given up, and keep waiting for Bethesda to change, or have given up hope on it altogether. They don't even want to try talking with us. That is what the other thread I posted seems to suggest anyway. However the fact is that the console users on Xbox still have a way to mod, and it does have issues. Could we as a community come up with a way to make it better? For them, and for the modding community as a whole? (side not: when I got done writing that bit about the starving masses I realized that PC vs mods is a good Capitalism/Libertairanism vs Communism/socialism thing. PC, generally costs more up front, but is much more personal and gives you more freedom of choice. Console, cheaper up front and meant for everyone, but is very limited and compared to the alternative, is very lacking and highly restricted.)
  10. I find your attitude slightly disturbing. I agree that consoles themselves suck, the people are not the issue. As I just mentioned, there are just as many stolen mods for PC. they just are on other download sites. Meaning us in the PC space do the same thing as the "console hordes". I think Bethesda's inaction is a problem, but I don't think we can do anything about that, not very easily anyway. I think that the idea of console mods is amazing and very beneficial to modding as a whole. It opens up ideas and possibilities from millions. However the close-minded and poor way Bethesda has implemented this has been a very detrimental factor. Hell even now, they have 5gb of console mod room for Skyrim, but still the same 2gb of space for Fallout 4. Its insane. They say that Microsoft has to make the change... but they leave it at that, and refuse to actively try and get them to do so. Its been a publicity stunt for them, and that is all. That is why all these issues are happening. With all that said, there is nothing you or I could really do to change Bethesda's attitude. So what can we as a community do with the cards we have been dealt?
  11. Just because it is happening, does not mean it's right. Theft is wrong, period. It's this attitude that is killing a lot of mod creations and some just out right taking their mods totally OFF NEXUS - STEAM. Beth does not really care. It's seriously " ... not their concern ... ". Until Beth actually steps up with some serious Protocols and FOLLOW THROUGH with them .... well, nothing is going to happen. Their ( Beth's ) inaction's actually feed the problem. Why? The people who take other people's mods and such, KNOW BETH WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT ... thus, " no worries " ... and thus, Beth Feeds the problem. I know my opinion is unpopular. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew right of that I wasn't a zealot of this issue. I see the reasoning and understand why it is wrong. My personal belief is that you cannot stop human nature, and piracy of mod authors work is part of that. Large billion dollar industries have been pouring money into anti-piracy for years, and they haven't made a real dent. I think that the idea of stopping all illegal mods on Bethesda.net is futile. I also think that when you take into consideration the fact that Bethnet is the only site/service for millions of people to modify content on their systems... the illegal content here is probably negligible. If we compare all stolen/illegal mods that exist for F4 on other modding websites, and compare them with the Nexus(and other legal mod sites), I am sure that the ratio is probably similar. Now with all of this said, I do think that at the fact this is the only service means that its a lot easier to manage any illegal content. With enough effort we might be able to cut this river down to a small creek. That is why I have brought up the ideas of going for the YouTubers that promote the mods themselves. If we cut the publicity, then we have illegal mods that only get 5-10 downloads... instead of 50-100. The same goes for the limit of WIP seeders. If only 5-10 "testers" were aloud to download WIP mods on the site, then it could help cut down on the giant rush. I also encourage you and everyone else to go and look at the sister thread to this on Bethnet. Link has been edited into the original post.
  12. This is regarding the issue on Bethesda.net. The stolen mod issue. I know I am late to talk about it, but I have work and needed a bit of free time to actually post. [edit:]This issue is probably discussed in joint with people on Bethesda.net. I have made a second thread there to discuss this. Just remember that any criticism of their actions so far will get the thread shut down. Please keep that sort of thing on this thread here. https://bethesda.net/community/topic/180510/community-action-against-mod-theft I want my position to be stated right off. I think this is a very NON-ISSUE. Stolen mods exist all over the internet. The only reason it seems to be a rampent issue on Bethnet is because its the only service you can use to install mods for consoles. If there were 3-5 different services that would allow such a thing, it wouldn't be be as concentrated on Bethesa's site. This is coming from a guy that had led game projects and was an avid forum goer here (in Fallout NV) and on Sugarbombed. Now my position being stated, I do understand the need for something to be done. Crimsomrider had his/her own thread on Bethnet, but it was locked. https://bethesda.net/community/topic/140089/wip-mod-piracy In his thread he brings up many points and ideas. Most are too extreme for me. I felt getting rid of private mods on Bethesda.net was wrong, and I definitely believe that doing the same to WIP mods is bad as well. Leaving the ability for a group of friends or testers to have a private (or semi private) mod uploading area is good. Though I will get into this more farther down. My solution takes care of one of the main issues with the stolen mods. Taking down the publicity and income of the you-tubers that spread them. https://www.youtube.com/yt/about/policies/#community-guidelines In YouTube's community guidelines, there is a specific form for reporting illegal acts (I would have just copy and pasted the exact section, but the page only would load in Spanish). Taking part in, and promoting copyright theft of a mod-maker's assets (and many game dev's assets) is against the law. We as a community need to start flagging these youtuber's videos. We need to take action against the real crooks here. The ones spreading the stolen content around need to be silenced, before we can do anything else. Right now its so easy to get stolen mods because of the publicity, if we take that away, then they can upload all the stolen things they want, and very few will even know. If possible we should do the same thing for any of these people that are using patreon. Reporting their accounts by enough people, with simple and clear reasoning could have patreon take action against their accounts as well. There are people on Bethesda.net that do want the right thing. https://bethesda.net/community/topic/178517/crimsonrider/3 This being the case, I will make a second thread there, saying my idea. I hope to get some feedback, and will try to avoid getting the thread shut down by the moderators. [edit: link] https://bethesda.net/community/topic/180510/community-action-against-mod-theft Now on the point of WIP section. I think that maybe a limit for the number of people that can download a WIP mod could help this. Make the limit 5-10. That would still give leeway to beta testers, and keep the ability to have a WIP mod. However it wouldn't be available on mass, like they are now.
  13. That would be my solution. Or even have a popup that says that the mod is stolen, and the only way the popup will go away is if it runs a check for NVSE and finds it. However just making NVSE required in the ESP should be simple enough.
  14. We seem that we have drifed away from the original reason of this thread. How do we solve this, at least in the short term. I think that using a sort of skript that causes a pup-up msg on consoles would work. Make it a permanant pop-up untill the mod in question is uninstalled. Have the popup go away or not show up if the person has NVSE/F4SE. Since script extenders are only on PC. Then when the mod is ready for console, take out the script That is the only idea I have for now.
  15. I feel that this will help matters. Finding a way to help the honest console users inform mod authors is good. Another idea is to make sure to post your own content first, and if you don't want to uplaod something for any reason (Possible conflicts on consoles or whathaveyou) you can possibly make an script that leaves a perminate popup windo when the mod is installed. The only way the windo can go away is ifyou have a NVSE/F4SE script to stop it. Since consoles cannot use script extenders, this would be a very simple and effective way of DRM. As for adult content, I do hope that some do upload a few more risky mods. Maybe not full nudity, but there are a lot of good mods that have adult content.
