  1. Does Skyrim normally allow time to pass while the player speaks to an NPC, such that the player may be attacked and killed during a dialogue? If not, then there should be a mod in my game causing this, though I can't think of which that might be. At any rate, is there any simple way to freeze the processing of the surrounding world while interacting with NPCs?
  2. NVAC was one of my first additions when I started building-up the modded game. Ditto to 4GB. But I did check the page, and it turns out there's a newer version of NVAC out. After upgrading to it, I have no problem around either the canyon or the Gun Runners. Thanks!
  3. It's interesting, though - for that very reason I tried to merge only the bashed patch, lone ESMs, and lone ESPs. And in fact every mod that I know should give a pop-up when installed, or can be started within the area I've explored, checks out so far; that's over half the mods I've installed that are also merged. So the mods themselves work, yet there's some sort of error or conflict that makes the base game unplayable, that is causes a crash when I so much as get near a certain area. It's also interesting that both of these areas are DLC-related: Lonesome Road and Gun-Runners' Arsenal. Yet I checked the DLCs in FNVEdit, and nothing seems to be obviously amiss that would lead to this result. Anyway, the Mojave Drive-in loads fine, and I can even start the OWB quest.
  4. To be more detailed: 1. In test runs with fewer mods, I got through into the Canyon Wreckage vicinity once with no problem, but I can't recall at which stage this was. 2. After fully modding the game, I started with a fresh character (i.e. new game). 3. The crashes occur seemingly whenever I approach within a certain radius of either the Canyon Wreckage or the Gun Runners' HQ; if not a radius, then at least some irregularly-shaped zone. See the attachment for visuals, though note that I have not yet investigated the full extent of the Gun-Runners dead-zone. Purple marks the dead-zones/boundaries, and white circumscribes the extent of my exploration in my current game (with the Canyon Wreckage dead-zone included due to exploration in prior games). 4. The crash around Canyon Wreckage still recurs even now, and I have no reason to believe it will pass with time, nor the crashes around the Gun Runners. 5. I've been playing the fully-modded game, I don't know, 20-50 hours and up to two in-game weeks. It's honestly hard to keep track, as I've been a bit obsessed with making this work for the past month and it's all just blended together. Here is my load-order. I merged quite a few plugins together with FNVPlugin, plus a lot of time spent in FNVEdit tying up the loose ends. I did not delete the merged plug-ins for precautionary purposes, so assume any included-but-unmarked plugin has been merged into either ESM4.esm or Merger3.esp, or Internal Merger.esp.   5. 1. The game crashes when I try to move my character into the area around Canyon Wreckage or the Gun Runners. These are just what I've found so far. 2. No-clipping into these areas does not work and the game crashes all the same. 3. Fast-travelling to these areas or their environs does not work. 4. The 'dead-zone' seems to be much larger around Canyon Wreckage than around the Gun Runners. 5. I only noticed the issue (Canyon Wreckage first of all due to the size of the area affected) after I finished putting together my modded game, so I can't say which mod(s) might be responsible. 6. I haven't explored the entire map yet, so there might conceivably be other areas that are similarly affected. How do I go about investigating this?
  6. The problem with correcting those errors though, is that it seems to force the merged plugin to take its component plugins as masters - which defeats the purpose of the enterprise. But certainly, targeting mods that are just non-MCM lone esm or esp files has given me a number of weapons, armor, and quest mods for free in the load-order, so to speak. I've tested in-game where it was simple to do so, and everything seems to work fine, despite the changed references. Also, a very interesting development: For the armor mods specifically, I've got Dragonskin Tactical Outfits and Reinforced Chinese Stealth Suit. The merge of them was unable to avoid making these files masters to the merged .esp, and yet, I am able to load the game just fine without activating DTO or RCSS .esps in FOMM, and the content seems to appear in-game and work just fine. While very convenient, I wonder how such a thing could be possible?
  7. I think you guys got it right - that's just what I was beginning to consider. But so, I have found some mods that do work in Merged patches, for instance Goodsprings Filler. I wonder if the qualities to look for might not be: no BSA and no NVSE scripts. Bashing mods seems to work fine too, but not many mods seem to be eligible.
  8. I've been trying to use FNVPlugin, but it seems as though the mods merged in it don't quite work the same way... E.g. ESPs A, B, C, D, of which B, C, and D, are merged into MERGE.esp. Checking in FNVEdit, MERGE seems to have all the records/flags that B, C, and D do. However, in-game mod B appears incompletely, and as for C and D I can not be sure that their effect has not been lost, as they are mastered by .esms or other .esps (and finding out would require a lot of subtle gameplay testing). To be more concrete, some mods under the MCM appear in its menu as headers, but contain no content when clicked. Others are functional but I can't say this is not due to the function of non-merged and still-active masters. To be even more specific, Official Pipboy Readius has all its files in the merge .esp yet when I leave only the merge .esp active, in-game trying to bring up the Pip-boy merely brings up the player=character's bare arm. Is there something I'm not understanding about merging? Surely if all the data in one file is contained in another, the latter should retain the functionality of the former... And another problem has emerged, namely that grenades (but not dynamite), plasma bolts, and maybe lasers, are glitching as missing models/textures in-game. This likely was extant even before I tried the merge stuff, so that can't be it. Checking everything pertinent to projectiles in FNVEdit, I find no issues, and the graphics files referenced in the plugins and masters are present in my Data folder. I've even replaced them from the original sources (i.e. EVE, WME, etc.), and yet no dice. I'm just confused by it all. Going by what I see (or know to see) in FNVEdit, everything should be working fine on all counts! Note that I'm currently well below the soft limit for mods, having deactivated a couple recently.

Recently, as I've been going through with my project to comprehensively mod my own game, it's seemed as though every single new mod past ~145 .esm and .esp files has caused the game to break mid-play. Here's what happens: *The game plays normally from a few seconds to a few minutes *The game fails to enter the Pause Menu when Esc is pressed *If any menu for a particular mod is activated (through hotkeys or through PipBoy items), they appear with muddled text and the game freezes *Often, there are graphical glitches and missing models and sounds during play After trying to add over a dozen different plugins, individually and in various combinations, I've found that when I deactivate all but what I had before this business started, plus ONE, everything works as normal. I've tried various ones in this context, and in fact tested my suspicion that this was not a problem with any individual mod that I was trying to add by creating a merged patch and activating it as the 'extra' plug-in. Same deal: bugs and a freeze. Clearly, I'm breaking some sort of limit. But what exactly is going on here? I think the FOMM limit is 255 plugins, and I only have a little over half that. I'd really like to be able to install more mods - but how, then?
  10. I am about one-third of the way through this project, having decided to replace advice with hours of in-game testing. Bugs that have arisen thus far: 1. The Official Readius mod for the PipBoy makes it impossible to start Hardcore mode from the Mitchell/intro pop-up. Ultimately trivial, this can be gotten around by simply activating Hardcore from the Pause Menu. 2. This is probably caused by the weight of the mods already onboard. 3. Though I have no idea what might be causing it, Doc Mitchell - and conceivably all doctors in the game - can not heal or de-rad. The dialogue options are there, and they will be responded to if selected, and the healing animation is intact, but the money is taken from the player to no effect. This is not that serious a problem, as the FOOK cheat-menu allows medical items to be acquired on demand, at the cost of immersion. So far, there has not been any notable performance difference as compared to vanilla.   11. Perhaps that was too open-ended. Alright, I will put this stuff together into a Merged Patch (after researching the procedure), but before that I need to ask: 1. Since NPC mods are often the most incompatible, should I just pass over body/face/NPC-texture mods like Breeze's Males and FNV Redesigned 2, and Fallout Character Overhaul? 2. Would nMCS textures, EVE, Weapon Retexture Project, an ENB such as Blackout, Weapon Animation Replacers, Nevada Skies, Enhanced Blood Textures, and Wasteland Flora Overhaul all be compatible with each other? It seems likely that they would overwrite too many of each other's textures to be mergeable, but I'm not sure. EVE at least would be compatible with the weapons stuff, Nevada Skies, Enhanced Blood Textures, and Poco/Ojo Bueno (an alternative to nMCS). The weapons mods, I'm unsure of, since it's not clear to me whether the Weapon Retexture Project changes any animations. I'm most willing to drop the ENB and the Wasteland Flora Mod here - please advise. 3. Would NV Realistic Battle and Dynamic Combat work/be mergeable with Reload? I know the former would be compatible with Project Nevada, and with the Convergence scheme NVRBDC, PN, FOOK, AWOP, EVE, WMXUE, and WME should all be working together, but since Reload modifies vendor and loot lists, overhauls faction weapons, and overhauls the damage/armor model, it seems like it wouldn't work well with the above mod-set, nor with other weapons/armor add-on or overhaul mods. So should I skip Reload?
