Been using it for around 5 hours now, nothing out of the ordinary has happened.

I can't really guarantee that any oddities won't happen as the game is so new. Achievements seem to work. If you are really unsure, take a backup of your save games. You can find them under: C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\kingdomcome

This doesnt seem to actually save my progress, when i load a save created by this it just sends me back to the most recent autosave/checkpoint

I re-downloaded the file to verify and it works well. Did you extract the .pak file to the Data folder? (KingdomComeDeliverance\Data)

yes, and after closing the game i can now no longer get into it, it crashes everytime it does the warhorse studios intro
The error says "[PlayerProfiles] CGameContext::StartGame User 'Name' has no active profile!"

The error says "[PlayerProfiles] CGameContext::StartGame User 'Name' has no active profile!"

If you want to you, could check your "kcd.log" file in the main game folder and give the content to me? Otherwise try removing the file and see if it persists. If it does, verify the integrity of the game cache.

Not really sure what could cause this, no one else has reported this issue.

EDIT: Just saw your edit. Can you go to C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\kingdomcome and check that your "profiles" folder is there? In it there should be a "settings.xml" and a folder named "default". Make sure that the default folder also contains 3 .xml files.

I verified the cache and made sure those files are present, still no luck
