  1. After accusing me of hijacking another thread when I DID think it was relevant to it, you come across as even more prejudiced towards me in this response. I have no problem at all installing mods manually. I have managed data systems for 30 yrs now. I was referring to all the other novices who may come across my post with the same problem but have no experience with file manipulation. So don't bother. You have no business responding to people asking for help. I'll get my answers from a more amicable source with a modicum of respect. I should have known better than to come here for it. You can mark this post as "answered".
  2. Since the recent Vortex program update released around 3-21-22, I have installed 5 new mods, and Vortex did not copy some or none of the the files in the mod archive over to the game folders. I checked the plugns list in vortex after each install, and the plugin is not there (when it should be). I open my mod archive in one window, and the game folder (steamapps\falllout 4\..) in another window side by side and compared each file in the mod package to the target location in the game folders. In the case of all 5 Vortex did not copy the files to the target location. But the mod list in Vortex says it did install them. I go thru the mod packages and manually copy the files where they are supposed to be in the game folders. Restart Vortex and it scans the folders, then it will show the plugins in the plugins list. Running the game verifies those mods functional. I have installed 22 mods before the Vortex 3-21-22 program update with no issue of any kind. Vortex installed the mods accurately and ran any associated fomods connected with them. So whatever you guys changed on that update near March 21, 2022 has screwed up Vortex from operating correctly, at least on my pc and the pc of a close friend. Please look into this, find the issue, fix it and issue a hotfix for it. Not everybody knows how to install mods manually, tweak ini and xml files and for that matter navigate their pc with window's file manager. brac Addendum: This may be relevant. My steam application and all games and programs including Vortex are not installed on my C: drive. They are installed on my auxiliary SSD labeled D:. Does your last update default to install folders located on C: drive?
  3. In my 1 yr of playing FO4, no issue has been as hard to resolve as when brown face appears. I've learned enough to know that the cause is very simple; All the elemental texture files used to compose any one face must be of the same x and y size and resolution. Compression may also have to be the same but I haven't found any texture deviating from 96 ppi. I have been using BC7 compression when I do edit a texture. This includes all the files Looks Menu uses and you employ on a character's face. I've learned how and what to use to edit a texture file to change those specs. What holds me back from a concerted effort to find and bring every said texture to the same size is 2 unknowns, and my lack of confidence I could find them all and size them correctly. Is there any of you out there who could provide me (and all of us with enough knowledge to do this mass file edit) a list of all the relevant face .dds files LM (and the game engine) uses and what their xy size and resolution spec needs to be if you are using the HD Texture pack? If some are in the HD Texture pack archives, I can extract and repack them if need be. I have a mod that will resize dds files from XY size to a new XY size. Seems to work pretty good. It is "Fallout 4 texture resizer". Only thing I don't like about it is you can't hand pick the files you want to resize. You target whole directories and specify current size. I worry it would resize files that shouldn't be. One more thing that may be relevant. I have categories in the Looks Menu applet that are totally empty. They are the Skin, and Overlay menu. I was able to access the skin menu and change skin tone at one time. But in my efforts to fix brown face that menu and some others became empty and I haven't been able to restore them. I have not reinstalled LM for fear of loosing settings I don't want to loose that do work right. Sure be nice if one of you veteran modders who know this could make a document listing these files and their path. I bet I am not the only one who has come to this conclusion. I have tried ALL the b* face patch mods. All of them. None totally fixes it for npc, settler, raider and player at the same time.
  4. BTW, I am old. But my day job extensively uses folder file structures, cad software and graphics apps. So I can navigate paths fine. But it is a hell of a lot harder to remember them.
  5. Thank you for asking that Stickbow. I have read and read and studied and researched the issue of rust\brown\black face till I am blue in the face (pun intended). I have it boiled down to the fact no matter what mods or fixes I install or parts there of remove, there will be face textures tht are not in the size I am trying to use (2k). I have a texture converter app I want to use to fix that. I changed over from cbbe to fusion girl. There were outfit conversions for every oufit I was using so it makes sense to make the change. But I have some vanilla characters coming up with brown face, not matching the skin tone of the FG bodies I built. So I would sure like to find these errant exceptions and convert them to 2k size. Trouble I see now, i can get them from the BA2 files but how do I get the converted ones back in the Ba2? CK and Fo4edit are not something I want to have to learn to get low res face textures up to spec. Took me months to learn how to make mashups with OS and BS.
