Quick updates to the site, money money money edition
PickleJar replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
In response to post #24600654. #24600674, #24600714, #24600744, #24601069 are all replies on the same post. Why not tell us you're taking a cut right from the get-go? Shouldn't you have all your cards on the table (and on the table here, on your site, not buried in Valve's legal writings) if you really want to help everyone get through this to a peaceful conclusion? -

Chesko, the one behind the fishing mod, has said on Reddit that the Nexus is a "service provider" under the workshop and is taking a cut. Is this true? -

In response to post #24597539. Yeah, but before, there was no legitimate, institutionalized way to sell mods. Now there is. -

In response to post #24596349. #24596569 is also a reply to the same post. I think that regardless of whether you think Skyrim belongs to the Nords or whether you're still patrolling the Mojave and wishing for a nuclear winter, it still matters. Other games with future Steam Workshop support are affected too, like DayZ or Killing Floor 2. -

In response to post #24596124. We aren't the minority: the petition on Change.org has thirty thousand signatures after 24 hours. The announcement page is full of negative comments, the mods themselves are full of negative comments, the Skyrim reviews are full of negative comments. It's a PR disaster already, at least. -

I have disagreed with Nexus policies before, but this update is good. The Nexus is on the moral high ground in this situation. Donations, not paywalls. -
Valve/Bethesda announce paid modding for Skyrim, more games to follow
PickleJar replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
Nexus did it right, Valve did it wrong. Actually, they did it worse than wrong, they did it in a completely disgusting fashion. I signed the petition. -
I guess the Nexus is a good case of "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." I hope you guys come to your senses eventually.

[WIP] The Siege of Firebase Zulu
PickleJar replied to someguy2000's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Just how much... well... 'Vietnam-ness' is Zulu shooting for? I mean, there probably won't be any Vertibird fly-bys to the tune of Ride of the Valkyries, but Good Morning Vietnam-style radio? Honest Hearts/Full Metal Jacket helmet writing, grenade rifles and .45s everywhere, Predator and/or Rambo daka levels? This is like waiting for the next chapter of Puce Moose's stuff. D: -
Problem with my mod
PickleJar replied to Deleted3761571User's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Loading BMT after the survival pack actually works, the jacket is perfectly fine. I think I'll be keeping the Rarity one, the jackets fit really nicely. >.> -
Problem with my mod
PickleJar replied to Deleted3761571User's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Well, looking in the GECK, the Scout outfit is the only one that's screwed up. What texture is it supposed to use? I'll try putting BMT after your mod and see what happens. -
Problem with my mod
PickleJar replied to Deleted3761571User's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Well, I DL'd your mod and the Black Mountain Thug mod, and here's what I found: Your mod works, pretty much. I installed yours first, without the Black Mountain Thug, and had no problems with textures everywhere. The Mojave Scout outfit, though, seems broken: the top is all white with yellow over the nipples and the bottom simply doesn't exist and deletes my char's legs. The female model just appears broken, no idea why. The outfit does work on men, but there's no fun in playing a guy so nyeh. :3 The jacket didn't appear, and that was supposed to happen. With Black Mountain Thug installed, the jacket did work, the Mojave Scout outfit still did not, and everything was right as rain. I did notice a couple issues (the unique pistols are spelled 'pistole' when they shouldn't have the 'e', the picture of Rarity on the Rarity jacket is mirrored on the right side so the text is backwards...), but nothing that would make textures everywhere become horribly broken. I guess they just screwed it up themselves? 's nothing to get worked up over, they'll figure it out. Other than the Mojave Scout outfit, everything works. (Love the ponies, by the way. :3) -
Meshes... don't do anything?
PickleJar replied to PickleJar's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
The 'thatgungo' .nif didn't have a speedloader model attached to it, so I left it alone. I do have Millenia's texture replacer, but he's only done the texture and not altered the model. The speedloader has its own texture under fiveshotspeedloader.dds, to boot, and that hasn't been changed. WME is the only thing that does edit the .223, and it doesn't change the base model. Even weirder, the WME meshes showed up in the GECK without the speedloader even before I removed it, but for some reason it still appears in-game regardless. There's no way I can tell to get rid of this be-damned thing. :<
