  1. @HollownessDevoured Perhaps those special Eclipse glasses will work for us?
  2. Yes, I attempted to use the EDGE extension. Recoloring the website would indeed be fairly complicated as I learned (but may make a go of it again once everything is done here). Nexus has already said that there won't be a change to their current theme direction and they've remained mute on whether there will be any Nexus options for something different. It was suggested that we use a browser extension to implement our own custom choices.
  3. I absolute love that every website detailing the best accessibility guidelines in fact use black fonts on white background on THEIR website!
  4. If the actual date is of interest, you can place you curser on it and the date will be revealed.
  5. Unless you sit in brightly lit rooms while viewing dark websites (I don't and probably most don't) the human eye dilates quite a bit looking at dark-mode (black backgrounds). What happens when your eyes dilate? It is harder to see fonts. People with common eye disorders, such as myopia, additionally experience a bleeding effect with the light fonts against the black background which make it difficult to read. These things should also fall under the concept of ACESSIBILITY but are not really considered much since those with these conditions are not impaired to the extent of those who are legally blind with major eyesight impairment. Even so, those with other types of visual challenges have legitimate concerns about this and if there is a way to offer choices in the color schemes for reading this website, I hope that Nexus will do it.
  6. Since Nexus needed to do a website redesign, the change in colors may have more to do with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and UK accessibility guidelines then just arbitrariness on the part of the website designers.
  7. @HollownessDevoured Maybe so. I was working on it yesterday when I suddenly started getting some kind very weird problem that prevents me from accessing threads. I click on a thread and get taken to a single random post in that thread. In other words, can't view the whole topic. The post is also with white background devoid of any website formatting. I'll probably have to uninstall EDGE and reinstall it to see about correcting this. Turning Stylebot off didn't correct the problem. When I switched to Firefox, no problem. So I know the problem is with my EDGE. Of course the best solution is to give options to those with Accessibility needs and those who need something other than the blackhole-look. I'm hoping we get an answer on Nexus' capability to do that as I asked about it yesterday.
  8. Thanks for adding the button link! It may be easier to just have one button though, since all the buttons lead back to the same exact place "About Me". @Pickysaurus Is it out of the question (now or in the future) for Nexus to offer options on the color scheme? Dark and Lighter? I''m looking for an extension for EDGE if anyone knows of one let me know. EDIT: Found a color/font theme changer, StyleBot. It works with EDGE, CHROME, FIREFOX. Will be a chore to make customization though.
  9. If the ABOUT ME section is going to open up for user editing, then personal gender can be added there (if the user chooses).
  10. I think it is esthetically professional to pick an easy on the eyes color and stick with it throughout Nexus. We now have the medium gray (including on the forum profiles), we should have the same cohesive look for the Mods pages. Making the two site areas look different just has the look of 2 disconnected webpages.
  11. The color of the current Mods website is a medium-ish grey and is pretty easy on the eyes. Especially when putting together a very detailed time-consuming mod page. I'd probably go cross-eyed using the black pages used on the beta profile. Thankfully, I just finished up the page for a mod I plan to soon release before any blackhole changes. Is blackhole black easier for use on phones? Personally, don't spend much time on my phone looking at nexus but I'm sure it gets a great deal of traffic otherwise there wouldn't be an emphasis on making the site phone-friendly. Keeping that in mind, there should be a good balance that can accommodate modders using pc to create the work, and users that do a lot of browsing and downloading. I think the larger spaces for the profiles probably accommodates phone usage which, for me, is ok. But, I don't spend a lot of time on profiles except to look at other modders' work (not my own work). I think if there are a lot of phone users browsing profiles, then that needs to be considered. I can say, with what little time I've spend using my phone on Nexus, the tiles and views of the webpages are pretty difficult to deal with--hard to read.
  12. Was thinking exactly the same thing. I also think mod users may also find it useful knowing that while conversing in forums. It is a bit of an advertisement for mod authors. As for generally displaying unpublished mods, that might be useful for some modders (and users following mod author works) as long as it was optional to use for modders. I wouldn't mind showing that for upcoming mod publications (as long as it is optional).
  13. Has anyone noticed that the non-forum site fonts have gotten considerably smaller very recently, or is this just me? I do have a 27" monitor...
  14. Took a few days break from this beta, came into today to check profile and looks so much better. Much improved use of space!
  15. User location under profile is redundant. For instance, mine spells out United States, and next to that there is US. After reading through this topic, I'd suggest making a better balance between the desire to improve the site for phone usage and for the overwhelming greater use of Nexus for PC desktop users. A compromise could be placing the username and related info horizontally at the top as before and using that space, at least, for one more Mod in the rows. There really is way too much empty wasted space in the suggested design. Even putting essentially blank colorful banners (at the top) is wasted IMO. Put the profile pic, etc. there. Phone users need tidiness too--even more so than desktop users really. Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling looking at ads and empty space will quickly make me close out a page on my smartphone. This page is mostly used so members can see user and mod info. Particularly mods. since that is why most of us are here.
