  1. In response to post #77612873. I agree wholeheartedly, and that's why I'd urge caution in expressing that perfectly reasonable sentiment. It clearly gets a LOT of push back. Just scroll down and you'll see I speak from experience.
  2. Seeing as my previous post was removed without warning, all I'll say, as politely as possible, is to restate that your criticism has hardly been constructive. If you truly wish to help, please be less insulting and accusatory. Maybe then will people be less hostile.
  3. Oh what a shock. zanity misrepresenting and deliberately obfuscating information to push his argument. *AGAIN*. Let me tell you something, zanity. I've been 'modding' online games for YEARS, without any problem. Zippo, nadda. Specifically, World of Warcraft. I have never been banned, never received a warning from admins or a sternly worded email. Nothing. Because all of my 'mods' are nothing but client-side mesh edits with literally zero impact on gameplay, both mine and others. Does Blizzard know that I use mods? I honestly don't know, but the odds are fairly f**king likely. And they don't CARE. And this is Blizzard, who is owned by Activision, one of the great archdevils of the industry. And they have most certainly banned people for modifying game files, but all of those people were not 'modding', they were cheating. Plain and simple. They were modifying game files to gain a distinct and unfair advantage, not giving their blood elf bigger tits and bimbo lips, or turning their orc red. I know that Bethesda is a different company, with a different corporate culture, but I like to think that the odds of them throwing decades of proven online game management out the window is pretty damn low. Does that mean that a lot of mods common in previous titles will not be possible on live servers? Probably, but to say that if you so much as *touch* a file in the data folder, Bethesda will instantly know, nuke your account, burn your computer, and salt the remains so that nothing ever grows again like the Romans did to Carthage is so absurd and alarmist as to border outright stupidity.
  4. And honestly, that's fair. At every turn Bethesda has dropped the ball on this one, and mishandled almost every decision. It is fine to point those things out. But zanity here has been on some hate-fueled crusade for weeks now, and saying everything from 'you're stupid if you like the game even the slightest' to 'if you still don't hate Bethesda as much as I do, you're part of a literal brain-washed cult'. I'm paraphrasing here, but that's what these six paragraph long screeds sum up to. And he doesn't even have the balls to defend his argument, he just moves on and starts a new thread or hijacks someone else's whenever someone challenges him.
  5. I do have some very serious and legitimate criticisms of 76 and the direction Bethesda is going in, as well as the direction of the industry in general. Absolutely. But I think a far more worrisome sign of the growing rift in gaming subculture are 'gamers' like zanity here who treat a game in their favourite series being released that they don't like with the same gravity and severity as the Government abolishing democracy.
  6. Honestly zanity, were you molested by a Zenimax executive? I can think of no other reason you would hold such an irrational hatred of a video game company that has done literally nothing to harm you personally, other than make a game you don't like. I mean, how has this whole 76 fiasco directly impacted your life? Even if you spent money on the game (which I highly doubt you have), did you lose your house or something because Todd Howard had it knocked down to build a giant 76 billboard? What has this game cost you? Other than the thousands of hours I'm sure you've wasted going on this hate-filled screed. The only other logical reason I can think of is that you yourself are a 'paid troll', being financed by one of Bethesda's competitors to go online and badmouth them. Or maybe you're just an entitled brat who gives the rest of us gamers a bad name.
  7. I'd say telling someone 'F**k you' in an online game because they don't immediately respond with voice is a *bit* of an overreaction in my opinion, but then I suppose I'm not too savvy when it comes to internet customs. I'd say as long as you threw an emote his way, you're in the clear.
  8. See, you *say* you're not being mean, just 'aware', but in the same breath you implied that anyone who disagrees with you is mindless, blind, and/or out of touch. Now, if Todd Howard touched you in your no-no place, I might be able to understand why you're so angry. But if you're just disgruntled that Bethesda made a game you don't like, you have to be one of the most entitled, selfish, self-centered gamers I've ever seen.
  9. Yeah, his sense of undeserved entitlement is painfully obvious in his vitriolic rage. With how nightmarish-ly apocalyptic he's portraying the situation, I expect his next grandiose speech will just be him opening his mouth and exhaling a cloud of locusts.
  10. Do you have any proof of anything you're jabbering about? You know, other than wild speculation based on second-hand opinion? Seriously, what is your goal here? You're talking about a video game company fumbling it's latest release with the needlessly alarmist tone of a raving street corner derelict. I am in no way defending Bethesda, but you're making it sound like the name Todd Howard will go down in history as worse than Adolf Hitler or Joseph Stalin. What do you think any of this non-stop ranting is going to actually accomplish other than piss off the entire forum? And if you absolutely MUST continue your hateful screed, at least keep it to one thread rather than post new thread after new thread, again and again. But that's why you do it, isn't it? To get a bigger audience. For the love of Christ, just stop with the grandstanding. You amazingly foresaw Fallout 76 being terrible, and lo and behold, for a lot of people it was! You got what you wanted, Bethesda has 'crashed and burned', now your goddamn victory lap is over. But I have a feeling it's more like a victory marathon isn't it?
  11. Putting aside the fact that you are clearly mis-representing information to suit your own argument, I have to ask: why the heck are you doing this? Every time I glance at this forum I see you either posting new thread after new thread re-hashing what is essentially the same argument of 'Bethesda is Satan and all you sheeple are idiots!!!', to going into other, unrelated threads and doing the same. Obviously you have some kind of axe to grind, but I have difficulty believing a mere dislike of Fallout 76 can explain the fervour with which you are pursuing this straw-man argument. I understand that 76 is FAR from a perfect game, its probably not even a GOOD game, and it's definitely not what most Fallout fans wanted, but seriously, I've seen people less vitriolic over having their dog ran over. So what, exactly is your goddamn angle here? Unless you have something honestly constructive to provide to any debate on 76 and its merits (which no matter what you say in your defense, you are NOT being constructive right now), I would kindly ask you to stop and GET OUT.
  12. I've had it for about two days now, and honestly, I'm loving it so far. Yes, it's buggy. Yes, Bethesda is mishandling literally anything there is to handle about the whole situation. But, speaking for myself, I'm having a ton of fun. I do think a lot of the horrid, nasty things being said about 76 are from people who've never played the game, never intend on playing the game, and honestly, they most likely decided they hated it right from the moment it was announced. But I'm only speaking for myself, based on only a couple hours. I make no pretense that my opinion is the be all and end all. Honestly, the only way to know for certain is to try it, as my own perception of its quality was tainted before I gave it a shot. If you already have it pre-ordered, you literally have nothing to lose other than a scant few hours of time. I hope this helps. :D
  13. Well as soon as I picked up Fallout 76, the very first thing I did was crack open the archives to start snooping around and tinkering. I'd like to say so far I've been somewhat succesfull in up-porting FO4 nifs into 76 (textures are a whole other matter, as attempting to change old ones to their new format seems to be arcane wizardry beyond my feeble mind's ability to comprehend). But I seem to have run into a weird sort of 'snag', as it were. I was attempting to apply the 'corpse' skin textures (brand new with 76) to the player character, though and I could get the hand and body textures to show correctly, for some reason I cannot fathom it refuses to show the new face texture. It just shows the normal human face. I checked and rechecked that I had extracted the right files, put them in the right spot, and that their names were identical, but to no avail. I admit my modding skills are somewhat rudimentary, and this is probably a problem beyond my meager skills. Any help from the community would be appreciated, even if all it is is an explanation why what I'm doing is currently impossible. Thank you.
