  1. Thanks for the reply! I'll start looking around into some of the magic stuffs (too bad its not that simple to create a new nif shape and add an entry). To give some further context, I'm contemplating another way to handle the pipboy light. The flashlight nvse mod hits performance a little much to my liking and wondering if its possible to shape light or magical effects - so instead of a ball around the self cast of the player, maybe more of a wedge shape?
  2. I'm curious about some things and messing with some modding ideas but wondering if I could create a new projectile type under the base effect window? If so, any resources on how to go about doing so?
  3. Hey all, I've seen a handful of basic mods on the site and was wondering to what extent can the game be modded? I'm interested in doing custom meshes but it seems like thats impossible for now.
  4. Thanks for the quick response! I suppose I failed to understand your approach to address this topic when I initially installed the mod. I'll go over your mod again and check it out and see what I can learn ;) My ultimate goal is to have an MCM compatible version of a mod like this. Are you interested in making an MCM version or is it not able to do so? Do you have any objections if I attempted a version like that?
  5. I've tried searching the forums but maybe due to the terms I was using, I could not find a hit. I'd like to find the records that affect XP (so I can make changes to them). I did find some items under game setting which seem to work when place to zero for certain items (location discovery, hack/lock rewards) but have some odd behavior for other things. I think I set no xp for NPC/Enemy kills, but I still get XP and in a weird way. I kill the NPC, my XP bar goes up slowly and I can see it count each XP after x time (+1 xp then +2 xp and so on until it hits like 10xp or 14xp). I check my own level and I go from level 1 to level 7 from 1 kill. So it seems to me, I've changed a multiplier of how the XP is displayed (causing the xp fill bar to "fill" for about 1 second or so then +2 xp and rinse and repeat). Some kind of multiplier is in effect now causing me to gain massive amounts of xp to level 6 times. The goal I am pursuing is to make 0 xp from all things minus quest completion and possibly from kills. I've tried to look at what other mods change but most are not working correctly or edit too many things. I would like to edit the following: Quests Kills Location Discovery // Crafting // Cooking // Hacking // Lockpicking - seem to work properly when edited.
  6. Raggz45, they might have a VUR file that basically use Iden as the frame work and provide some tweaks using this vur file (like using a different head/body or audio). What I would like to know is how can you use an alternate texture that is already provided. For example, The imperial heavy has a pauldron (black) and the heavy on tatooine has an orange variant of it. I can get the Pauldron via vur file but it doesn't change color to the orange if referenced. A few mod authors have released a mod featuring their attempts and they work for the most part. Unfortunately no one seems to want to share this type of information.
  7. What setting would one change in order to load custom files? Say a template uses a 10mm but you don't want to use a 10mm for sound, rather point to newly created sound files for a custom weapon?
  8. Have you tried disabling all mods? What are the results? Tried enabling one or a few at a time and testing? Results. Try making backups of you ini files and deleting the original (the game will make new ones), what are the results. Is this area specific? Try to fast travel elsewhere and let time pass and then walk back to this area later on.
  9. I think he is requesting it to be made, not ported. Porting assets is where the issue is, otherwise we wouldn't have many of the mods we currently have that are not exclusive to fallout series.
  10. I've seen the same. If you appear to already done a lot of the "easier" stuff covered by tutorials, there seems to be a better reception. I've reached out to some people to find out about how leveled list scripts work and received a few replies pointed me in a good direction. I did reach out to a few authors who did not reply but about a month after I figured it out, I saw some of these authors had created tutorials that randomly showed up (so I could see why they did not reply to me as it was already answered - somehow missed the tutorials they did create).
  11. I know when I created my custom pistol, a lot of the naming comes from creating the mods themselves, especially if you are viewing through a workbench. The name you change in the base item is the name that shows up in the pipboy. So you may need to go through and create copies of the PA parts you want and rename the formid and then the name below (which will be the name that shows up in the workbench).
  12. Unless the body part points to a single shared mesh/texture set you can duplicate/modify. Otherwise you might have to go through them all. I have some immersive terminals where I changed the color of terminal blinking color (from the default green). The nif (from what I can tell) houses 2 lines of code that hold the instructions for the color. I had to go through 20 or so terminal nifs to change color (wish it was more fluid), and repeated the process for 2 additional popular colors.
  13. I would look at a regular container in the ck. Look at what keywords they might be using and see if you need to create a new keyword or associate to an existing one or both. I don't script but was able to get some custom meshes in the leveled list using a basic script. Once the veritbirds are set, add existing LLI to the vertibird (similar to containers). If you want specific things to spawn, this might be where using a script will help out. I can't imagine it would be too difficult. Keywords are pretty "key" for enabling features in the ck and the game.
  14. I believe the max distance is how far the camera normally sits in 3p. The min is where it will zoom to when ads'ing. I don't know if it was these lines, but I changed my min to match my max so there isn't any zooming in effect. I personally like it.
