My idea is to stop or even deflect a little bit melee attack animations (like when we hit enemy that is doing block) when we hit enemies with armor or when we hit unmovable objects. The animation may finish if the enemy's HP is say: 30% or below of his maximum HP. I hope it is possible with animations that are already in the game.
