  1. In response to post #7524230. #7524536 is also a reply to the same post. Thanks for mentioning. Switching out of the category view allowed me to delete without freezing. Kudos to you, for helping safe me much wasted time mate!
  2. Some nice new features, for sure. But unfortunately I too am experiencing a freezing problem when deleting mods. Have to force close/end task via windows task manager to complete delete. The mods properly delete, but NMM remains unresponsive until its restarted. Certainly an urgent issue. How to see a quick fix for this.
  3. Okay, looking further into it I see they're two separate files, although Chris's seems to be the only still avail per "better males" search. Back to troubleshooting,.... On the note of altering npcs, try simply disabling any mod the alters any npcs. Since that would not necessarily affect/change whiterun, it would affect objects/npcs within whiterun and potentially causing some issues. Let me know what happens with trying your previous saves just for trial-and-error. Earlier I suggested fast travel to breezehome- dumb suggestion seeing that you cannot do so. However, you could try it via console: Open console ~ Type coc whiterunBreezehome
  4. Well GirlGamer55 I hope I bear some good news! Immediately when viewing your mod list, npc altering mods jumped out at me. The first of which was Better Males, which evidently have reportedly caused CTDs. See Better Males crash fix Here I really hope this proves to be a step in the right direction :whistling:
  5. That's what these forums are for. :D Have you tried using each of your previous saves (regardless of how old) to see if ctd exists in same place? Can you post your current mod list? Are you not able to fast travel directly to breezehome without crash?
  6. A few comments, keep in mind if your upgrading your gpu, that having a high-end card won't guarantee a huge performance boost. You have some limitations due to your overall system setup and hardware. If I remember correctly you have a quad-core (which is good for multitasking) but the processing speed was only mid range 2.x skyrim is relatively CPU intensive, which means high end card could result in bottle necking the CPU because it can't process data fast enough for the outperforming gpu. I don't want to start hardware conversation, but the point is your gpu is pretty much balance with your CPU and RAM. Before you buy a card, I highly recommend spending some time researching this topic because it may turn out your investment would be better served being put towards a new system later in the future. my guess is that madwizard was suggesting 1.25gb - 1.5gb for your gpu because it'd be more compatible with the rest of your hardware. That extra 1/2 gb might be of little use. Furthermore, for your price range you may find a 2Gb card, but the transfer rate might not fully take advantage of that extra video memory. (There's a lot of info the ties into this topic) some manufacturers pack in the extra video ram as a selling point, not necessarily a performance point. That why you could find a 1gb gpu that cost double another that has 2gb. Honestly, my previous gpu gtx 285 1GB was adequate for skyrim with "some" textures at high settings, but my CPU was also faster and had more RAM, which was why I was able to upgrade my gpu to a bigger 2gb but also much faster gpu with almost 4x more streaming cores. At the moment and extra stick of RAM my be your best and cheap option while looking into this matter further. Also, you may wana focus on making sure your fully optimized for gaming. Ie bare minimum background programs running, the OS shared memory setting Madwizard suggested earlier etc. regardless, do your research before you spend your money, especially in this day and age every buck counts. If your paying someone to work on your system, assuming they're professional techs, ask them these kind of questions- get your monies worth ;D don't get me wrong, I am not trying to talk out of anything, but only trying to share some of what I've learned to better help you in making the most educated decision. Also, if you do decide to get a new gpu, search YouTube, ill almost guarantee youll find several video tutorials on how to install your new card. It honestly isn't that difficult! (Assuming you have a desktop, laptops are a whole other story)
  7. I believe what madwizard is suggesting, isn't that Modding your game will screw your system up from a software standpoint, but is moreso referring to the physical stress applied to your hardware by pushing it to its limits under full load- similar to driving a car hard at constant high-extreme rpms. In a way, considering the extensive troubleshooting you done to this point, he's OS suggestion is worth considering, while at the same time I appreciate your concern of damaging your system. however, much like you can uninstall your game and mods, the OS tweak he suggested is a built reversible feature of the OS, to my understanding available to users that would require such feature in circumstances similar to yours or any member of this community for matter. Several years back, when I first start PC gaming, I had contacted my hardware support (on my dell computer) seeking ways to to further increase my XPS's performance capabilities, and the technician had actually walked me through the same process madwizard suggested. The reason I mention this, was because it had been suggested to me by the same company who would ultimately be paying my system if any damaged occurred (and I'm sure you know how stingy and greedy such company are) ergo it stands to reason such feature doesn't bare much risk of harming or damaging you system. Obviously, your system - your discretion, but considering the narrowed down possibilities of causing to your problems, this suggestion remains a valid option. The only other thoughts I still have hinge on whether you made the backups I recommended when you reinstalled skyrim. -specifically a vanilla skyrim backup. if you do have, I'd swap your current main directory with your backup. Start a new game, and after the intro ride to helgen, go into console and type "coc whiterundragonsreach" (Without the quotations) - this will teleport you directly to dragonsreach. From here you can head to your usual ctd location to see if it crashes vanilla. Try to gauge your systems stress and performance here without mods or textures. If its doesn't, you could try manually adding your textures and keeping trying the ctd location to determine if your system is simply under too much stress. I know this is tedious, but it would explain a lot, and educate u on how to plan and okay on the future. *if u do this, move your save from documents folder to a backup location.
  8. Like madwizard said, with 1gb you have some texture limitations, but if I'm not mistaken you aren't running heavy HD texture pack overhauls, but mostly armor textures which won't impact your performance much. Even lite texture packs you could manage as long as you aren't running ultra settings and increased ugrids etc. In regards to the vram usage, from the research I've done it seems that is a variable we will most likely not be able to determine. Evidently ati cards for some time now are not able to have vram monitored. " There basically is not one large 1GB data share on 1GB AMD cards. It's literally broken up into 4x256MB groupings(as the memory controller is not 256-bit, but 4x64 bit, but as they all run in tandem, it's considered 256-bit overall), making proper monitoring even more difficult. 4x data stores means it's very possible that monitoring calls may stall an app, leading to crashes."
  9. From what I read on the site, it said the 32-bit version is included in the 64-bit version and to see readme. hopefully that will provide. Clock is relative to gpu speed, similar to a CPU processor speed.
  10. 99% for usage is normal, but yes, like shakahell said we're looking for vram/video memory usage.
  11. My card is nvidia, so I'm not familiar with the ati utilities - hopefully someone else can chime in with a suggestion. ***here is one you can try: http://www.amd.com/us/products/workstation/graphics/tools/pages/tools.aspx ---it looks like there is a memory viewer listed I didn't necessarily mean that NMM installed incorrectly, but maybe a different mod alters the texture and something got overwritten. Easiest solution is to reinstall that mod that would contain/affect that missing texture.
  12. What program were you using before to monitor your temps? Does it have options for gpu vram? You can just use the OS task manager's monitor feature for you CPU load. About the missing textures, that as some kind of positive note, is indicating that textures were not properly installed. If textures aren't being properly installed, that can indicate the potential of other mods not being installed correctly which might have something to do with your crashes. Granted, missing textures shouldn't cause crashes, but it at least suggests items are not installing correctly.
  13. The only reason texture packs would/should cause you problems is if your gpu vram is capping out or CPU is bottlenecks the water mod isn't too heavy. And adding texture packs one at a time while monitoring your gpu and CPU and should be able to gauge what's pushing it too far. Additionally your fps would also help indicate if your overdoing it. As you add textures you'll also be able to choose which overwrites the other if at all, so you can choose what gets used.
  14. at this point after all the troubleshooting you've done with inconsistent results, I'd favor dumping saves . Slowly add the mod you want add, thoroughly testing as you add them. Keep a tidy load order with BOSS. Keep organized backups. Remember launching through steam launcher resets ini files to default. (Which you can set default ini in directory if you choose). Make clean saves as you add your mods, heed the guide recommendations for this process. Figure if you add up all the time spent trying to fix, you'd probably be close to where your at now already. At this process lead to discovering your overheating hardware before it was too late. Again, I emphasize (lol) backups! :D its possible this may have been fixed sooner had there previous files for comparisons to eliminate possible causes.
  15. Well at least now your progress should more forward. It certainly sucks having to do it, but your starting from scratch and you can diligently approach it so every step is backed up and/or noted. Don't forget to make a backup of your vanilla data directory. You'll have it as a basis of comparison, and easier corrections. The backups you keel along the way, the easier it'll be if anything breaks. Typically quick fixes. Sorry we couldn't correct the issue.
