  1. I did have a bit of trouble when I played as a Mage but a little strategy and a lot of running is key. So far I only invest in Alteration, Destruction, and Restoration. In he beginning, the first thing I did was to collect enough perks point to buy Impact perk, Regeneration perk, Dual Cast for restoration, (and the perk that increases magic regeneration rate) and get mage armor. Next was my focus on getting decent restoration robes (I got lucky once and snagged adept robes of restoration). Also, get a basic conjur like familiar or flame atronach for fodder. Fights always went like this (I'm lvl 28 right now on Master), cast stoneflesh before fight. Here comes boss man (draugir) death overlord in this case) I fling a dual cast fire spell and it causes him to knockback on one knee. In the mean time I' conjure a flame atronach and quickly slash it with aversion to fire poisoned sword. Then I step back and dual cast fire spell just as he gets up to move. For mages, I buy a staff of chain lighting (or have sanguine rose is amazing for tanking witches and vampires). Even in groups the first thing I do is conjure a creature usually a flame atronach or ice. Switch to lighting bolt or the staff and a lesser ward spell (sometimes greater ward for master necromancers) In either case if s*** hits the fan you book it while healing (which recovers your stamina too if you have the perk!!! which enables you to run some more) SHORT STORY :wallbash: Guerrilla hit and run tactics works best with a pure mage. Even against dragons :pirate: Notice how mages always move in zigzags and are ^#&*@^# hard to hit with arrows or spells? Move they liek do if you want to survive as a mage. Always be on the move
  2. Wow, I still run all my games. inlcuding new ones with one measly 8800 GT [PNY] and can run on high settings with 8x aa and 8x af on high quality (no FXAA and no reflect skies) That's with Skyrim HD mod pack (lite version) @ 1680 x 1050 I'm afraid to buy or upgrade because this thing has been running all new games without problems (although some games like the Witcher 2, I can only play on low settings if I want consistent FPS w/ bloom) What would be the successor? You know, cheap, robust, dependable and can probably last at least 4 years. I want to buy a drink to whoever designed this amazing GPU.
  3. It would be interesting to explore the spirit realm some more. If you could add Aetherius, the Immortal Plane to the poll that would be mighty cool ;) Sovngarde is one realm of Aetherius. This is the place where Nords go when they die. But what about everyone else? There is also the Dreamsleeve, a place where souls get recycled according to lore in the books. One cool thing to note is that the the Sun and stars are believed to be holes to the spirit realm. Which makes sense lore wise. Tiber Septim ascended to the gods in such a way. It would be cool to actually meet Magnus himself (and return his staff and rewarded weird and powerful spells) and beings way more powerful than a mortal dragonborn. I can't wait for wait DLC Beth has in store for us :hurr:
  4. I'm not implying anything or attempting to accuse you. But this isn't an issue for players who have a valid copy of Skyrim (which can only be activated via steam). Typically a red flag goes up when some users have problems running Skyrim and resort to using obsolete mods (because Beth has already addressed those issues via patches). Just throwing it out there.
  5. Click Start > type dxdiag look under system and display tab Also to note, DO NOT TRUST the Skyrim launcher to set the game performance settings for you. Just as some users stated here, it might help a lot of you tone down all the graphics and work your way up to decent graphics and performance settings.
  6. While a real possibility, I think that's an overestimate. I agree with a lot of the users here that Nexus has a very strong fan base and is a very specific community. I've been on steam forums and the kind of tripe and stupidity people post there is enough to keep or sway member back to Nexus. Mixing this fine community with the likes and numbers of Steam users is not to the benefit of anyone. Will there be modders who "sell out"? Sure. Do they have a right to want to get payed for their work? Damn right they do. From what I see, Nexus is tightly woven thread, on the other hand steam is like what happens when your grandma teaches your 5 year old how to knit.
  7. Nuke > Yol Toor Shul I raise. Meteor Swarm > Planet earth
  8. All this nonsense about missiles and jets and the big metal boats that fling them. I think some people forget that Dragons have MAGIC! Our puny WMDs pale in comparison to these winged lizards!
  9. Woah someone's been eating too much refined moon sugar!
  10. SKSE isn't working either (and the mods that require it of course) but I'm able to launch from Skyrim with normal launcher. Have you tried removing SKSE or script dragon? Disclosure:I have the latest SKSE and do not use script dragon. A pain in the ass solution might be to remove all the mods and use steam to verify the integrity of the files tool. If that doesn't fix it you could always try re-installing it.
  11. I agree with your sentiments on the Falmer not deserving their fate. According to the historical documents, they were the first race in Skyrim and maintained that until Nords built their settlements (Saarthall being the first). They co-existed peacefully until tensions grew. Now I'm only speculating here but do you think that perhaps the Elves were xenophobic and the Nords were racist; with tension escalating, subsequently leading to war? Think of it as how European settlers (the pilgrims) came to the Americas and got along well with the natives (American Indians) at first. On another note: The Falmer might have seen them as a blight on their land and the Nords naturally, had to defend themselves. But after such a wholesale slaughter they could only think of the Falmer as nothing more than barbarians and drove them out of their own land. Final thought are basically, most societies or civilizations have some sort of military structure to defend themselves and also to sometimes invade other land. But just as they have these institutions they have their civilians: Normal people that more or less contributes to the society through culture more so than military conquest, which they may not have much say in. Even if their ideals matched and supported their military I think both the Nord's and the Dwemer's actions are beyond necessary, punishing all Falmer, military or civilian alike. Anyways, that's the crude interpretation of my belief that they did not deserve their fate. :psyduck:
  12. IJust to clarify one thing, clouds aren't in gas form. They are very much liquid. It only gives that impression because the droplets of water are so small and light that the wind carries them. :whistling:
  13. The president already signed an executive agreement for ACTA back in OCT 2011 If I remember right. Which is also pretty ****ing illegal in this case. *edit* That means Congress or Senate isn't involved, which means much much less public knowledge and scrutiny.
  14. I got bored with my first one since it was just there to get a feel for the game. My second, I was way too focused on gaming mechanics and methodically advancing the game than on the story and role playing. As for my third, that I just started: A violent and cynical fire mage that thinks intimidating people is often the best way to get things done. He was never that way younger when apprenticing in magic at Winterhold. As a native of Skyrim, he feels that others just like himself were brutalized too often and subsequently have developed a rough and jaded demeanor. He is capable of murder and can be amoral. But to anyone except the school of magic, his loyalty must be questioned. As he is known to participate in the activities of less then honest groups of people; only for them to be found dead or altogether missing. Who does he work for, if he does actually work for someone... Attributes: Physically weak but a quick runner. Cunning but also thinks way too much. Compartmentalizes the consequences of his actions. He donates to the poor a lot. Heh, as you can see I'll be enjoying this one =)
