Nexus Mods Profile

  1. Yep, and my telvanni modders resource will not be on Nexus anymore, it will be offsite and this will be one of its new requirement on the permissions tab: "Permission is never granted to be used on websites that have a none-revocable/infinite distribution license! So for example, if you intend to use these assets and then upload them on a website like Nexusmods that will keep your mod forever, and by extension also keep my assets that you used forever, without any possibility of the choice of deletion, then you do not get my permission to use my assets. My mods are for free, this modders resource is for free, the choice of deletion comes with that freedom. If a website does not grant you the ability to permanently delete your own files, then don't use my resources." Funny how a few years back I had to add this to my permissions tab because of paid mods: "You must release your work to the public for free use and you must never charge any money for it." And Nexus was fighting against that as well, supporting modders, yet now I consider Nexus to be just like Bethesda and their greed, except in a more sneaky and indirect way, at least Bethesda was strait-forward and honest about the whole thing. And no I'm not directly comparing the two situations, but with Nexus its layer on layer on layer which basically gives the end result of earning more indirect profit, so in that sense, I see a resemblance, except authors get nothing in this case, they even lose something they had before.
  2. This is the fourth time I am asking this question: Can we upload for example only an .esp file and then refer to another website where the .bsa file is located that contains all our assets that we made ourself with paid-for programs. First Answer I got from Dark0ne was: "That's up to you" (read second reply in picture) Second time I tried asking this in this thread, it did not get answered and got locked instantly. I did as moderator Pickysaurus instructed me, I asked the question in the thread he referred me to, to which they never gave an answer. So here is my attempting to ask yet again. "That's up to you" certainly is not a "no" "That's up to you" implies to me I can choose, its allowed but its my choice to do it or not, its not a "no", but since every attempt I made to get clarification on this got totally locked and ignored I'm starting to wander whats going on. I'm about to confirm my deletion form and I would very much like Staff to confirm we can indeed do this, so that I will not base my entire deletion form on a lie. And may I remind Nexus that there are already tons of mods on Nexus that refer to other websites with links for files the users must get in order for the mod to work, simplest example would be SKSE for Skyrim that almost all mods with advanced scripting require, that too, is an offsite requirement that basically ALL users must get for most mods to function. SKSE is just the simplest example I could come up with, it in fact has its own page here on Nexus too, with 0 files and a link to their offsite location, there are many, many more mods that link to offsite resources for various reasons.
  3. They edited their original news post and added a link on top, I also was expecting a new news post to appear tbh, I'm sure many people who read that original news post will never know about this new deletion form thats only going to be valid for 2 weeks. https://www.nexusmods.com/news/14538 Regardless, can Staff please clarify my question, I'm both excited and scared right now.
  4. If I enter a mod page and then select "all files", will the mod page still be there (with 0 files) and can I add a new file on my own? Or will the entire mod page be deleted? I really hope the mod page won't be deleted...
  5. One can only wander why Nexus is in such a rush to push and force this all through all at once, I'm sure they have a nice answer for everything though, its all been in the making for the last 2 years... Regardless, I'm not going to spend anything on Nexus, I already paid them enough with some of my mods while getting nothing in return aside from them trying to claim the files as theirs for infinity, very nice.
  6. Excuse me, do you even know what your talking about? I don't want to nuke all my mod pages and lose years of history, endorsements, comments, and tons of links from other mods and videos and translations all linking to those mod pages, this is neither good for me, neither good for Nexus, and especially not good for users who will come across those mods/videos/translations only to click on a link that brings them nowhere. All I want is to remove a few files without having to lose a single mod page. That is why I stick around, because Nexus took away the delete function in secret, not allowing me to put my own house in order, and then giving this ultimatum of "surrender or nuke", neither of those 2 options in their ultimatum is acceptable to me. Don't blame us for Nexus putting us in a trap by removing all other options in secret and then making it exactly like a hostage situation with an ultimatum, go talk to them instead, they caused this, not because of mod lists, but because of the way they force it all and strong-arm everyone. You know that if Nexus announced in ADVANCE that the delete function would be gone, lets say 1 month before they actually did it, 90% of the people leaving comments wouldn't be here and fixed on their own what had to be fixed, choose for themselves what the best options would have been. Now, we cannot even do this, we are stuck between 2 options, and both are just bad. But I know, just another case of "blame the modders" instead of actually thinking about it properly.
  7. I Propose A Theory Too: Its all about the money: 1. Vortex new feature: MOD LISTS! 2. Premium for easier use on Vortex 3. Don't allow mods to be deleted so mod lists will ALWAYS be available, given even more value to Vortex, more incentive for people to get that Premium. 4. Increase Premium price 5. Implement that "EDIT" in the TOS and do whatever you want with all the mods in case you get another fancy idea in the future 6. profit ! Modders can no longer take away their mods, its all in Nexus' hands, and now they can even edit the mods, ding ding. Oh wait, that's not a theory, 80% of what I said is already confirmed Dark (Robin) himself.
  8. probably a misquote he did, but I agree with Arthmoor, this anti-author mentality just because certain people think everything is for free, forever, and how dare a modder take down hes own mods, its helping nobody. Be grateful for the mods you get for free, so should Nexus without taking away control and doing a 180 on one of their core tenets, which has always been to guarantee that modders control their own mods, nobody else. I for one will never upload new mods on Nexus, but I will try my best to keep my current mod pages up and running, but only if certain files can be removed so I can retain all my rights over my own mods. We will see how that turns out on monday since some Staff finally told us they will have a conversation about this specific subject, perhaps we will get different options besides this ultimatum of "surrender or nuke". Lets hope, cause I don't wanne nuke, but if push comes to shove I'll have to, unless other options are put on the table so I can still give users the best experience possible while also keeping my own rights and control over my own creations.
  9. Just wait, exactly that will come along, perhaps not until after Nexus' ultimatum is over, but so many are fed up with Nexus at this point and all we want is a good home to display our work and that respects authors wishes. Sad that Nexus is pushing me to do what I never even wanted to do to begin with...but thats the only option I have with their ultimatum. Ive set my own deadline and if by then nothing changes I will do what needs to be done, I never liked bullies, never did, never will.
  10. Because everyone is doing it to authors as well, even Nexus, just because a few modders "might" take down their mods we now have to paint all modders with the same brush and remove their function to delete and take away their control over all modders, just because of what a few "might" do. And no I don't paint all users with the same brush, but I totally understand why. Stop guessing, Robin said himself on Discord he will do exactly that, hes going to increase the price for premium so... But then he also said he will wait a few months with this since if he will do it now things will explode even more, and then of course he blamed modders for their "conspiracy theories", so its best to let modders cool down, so he says. Just go on their discord and search comments from "Dark", its all there.
  11. Unless...its very well thought out and Robin uses all of this as an excuse to simply grab as many mods as he can, why else would he take away our "delete" function 3 days before even telling us he did it on purpose. And then he gives an ultimatum and we all need to pretend its "grace". Actions speak louder than words, and hes actions are very clear. Mod lists = grab all mods. Ultimatum = keep only people who are compliant. If this wouldn't be the case, then why are the no other options for us to choose from like remove only a few specific files, why the hostile act of 'surrender or nuke', and why removing delete function in secret so we couldn't even react, if he was truly honest and did in fact do this all "for the benefit of the users" he would have told us all about it a month in advance before removing the delete function so we could have chosen for ourselves what the best option would be and which specific files we did not want them to have and which files we wanted to keep on Nexus, instead he puts us in a trap with an ultimatum. The option to nuke and have a modder remove all their mods instead of only a few specific files, not to mention all those youtube videos and other links referring to the mod pages will all be broken as well, so how is any of this to the benefit of the users exactly... So this whole facade that its all done "for the betterment of the users, the community" falls flat on its face, its just an excuse.
  12. I'm also a mod user, and a mod author, I do not hate users, in fact both my biggest and most popular mods are only there because of users giving me great feedback, sure most of it were silly ideas, but some ideas were great and I consider my big mods to be a collaboration of many minds and not just my own. This went even to the point where a few users offered to help me with issues I was having, and if they could prove they had modding skills I would even let them, this was especially true when it came to scripting which I can't do at all and have no intention of learning, yet users helped me to further my mods to perfection. I might have been the driving force, but they were my fuel, and I will always keep my mods on display somewhere, as long as I feel its in good hands and as long as the "option" for me to have the last say over my mod files is guaranteed, I see this as my basic author right since its my intellectual property. I will never use this option to remove my files as long as my rights over my own creations are respected, they can even be used in mod lists, but Nexus went total tyrant from just one day to the next, taking away this option from me to have the last say over my mod, and I feel its not a safe place to have my mods on display here anymore, if Nexus can do this, I can only wander what they might do in the future. Of all the possible and humane options they could have given us, they went with the one I consider to be the equivalent of a hostage situation, with a gun to my head threatening me to give all my files, or lose every single mod page, every single endorsement I ever gotten, and lose everything I did on this website for the last 10 years. That to me is plain wrong, I'm still hoping Nexus will stop this behavior and let us choose to delete only a few files during this "grace period" without removing entire mod pages so we can put in different files and refer to other websites where the full mods can be found. That way we still retain our current mod pages with all endorsements/links/history/etc intact, or perhaps other options that offer a "middle ground", as long as it doesnt involve totally nuking everything simply because we don't want a few files to remain on Nexus. But so far it all seems to fall on deaf ears.
  13. Profile, manage ignore prefs, add TexMex477 Can I kindly ask you all to do the same, I don't know why you are all feeding the trolls when you know it only makes them come back for more.
  14. He wouldn't be able to pay for any of it if it wansn't for authors putting mods here, the very same people who he now gladly throws under the bus by removing their own control over their own creations. Explain this to me: why are we not allowed to remove only a few files, why is there only one option to nuke literally everything? Ive got mod pages with thousands of endorsements, but I need to nuke everything, all the history, comments, links other people put to my pages, other mods that need my mod to function and also link to my mod, all because I want to remove only a few files. Nice rules...
  15. Even if people claim not that many mods will be deleted, the trust that always was here is now gone, we trusted Nexus to do the right thing, to respect author's right to choose if, when and where they will distribute their own creations and have full control over it. Nexus no longer has this trust, they made a 180 in secret and even removed the ability for us to delete 3 days prior even telling us, they have been planning this for 2 years... Always look at the actions, they speak louder than words, why would decent authors even upload on a website that takes control of their own creations they worked years on, for all we know Nexus will just make up new rules and do something like this in the future again, perhaps even worse, and then force it on everyone once more with an ultimatum of "surrender or leave" instead of giving decent options to choose from, or maybe they won't even give an ultimatum next time at all... Trust is one of the most important things in the world, its one of the founding blocks that made Nexus great, we could always rely on them to do the right thing...good old days...
