  1. we'll get there too and there's been some advancement with it (touch), but sure that's an advantage with holo deck. The "no headset" is not really a positive because the headset makes it portable, very much unlike having an entire room dedicated to it. You can use a headset anywhere, on a plane, comfortably in bed, in a forest etc etc yeah i know there are some open source models available, tried a few of them, but i'm mostly into the visual ones
  2. Movie scenarios aren't very likely, those exist because they are exciting scenarios, but also unlikely scenarios. It's all down to the material it learns from. Commercial models of AI will be the usual "woke" garbage with historical revisionism etc, we are already seeing that. The interesting and good models will not be commercial, but created by the community, like always that's where greatness is achieved. We can take image AI as an example, the commercial models are pretty much garbage. Do your own stuff (fine tuning) and you can do cool stuff with it. I can't wait to train my own (text-text) AI, even if it won't be as large as a commerical model. Instead we will be able to do AI's with perhaps 1 specific focus, let's say you have one model for movie or game scripts and another for programming. The Holodeck is really outdated, i mean the idea of it. VR is much better because it's extremely portable and doesn't require an empty room (= mainly for rich people who has a lot of space). The advantage with a holodeck is that it doesn't require the headset itself, but other than that it's completely inferior, though of course it is imagined to have very reailistic projections but VR will get there too, and i guess you can say it's already there depending on what you're running.
  3. My gaming addiction started with Arcade halls and the Game and Watch, I particularly remember the game Parachute and playing that in school along with everyone else who had their own preference of a Game and Watch. People might think kids looking down on a screen all day is something new, it's not, we had that in 1980 too. As for arcade games it was the first ones (yes i'm old), so Donkey Kong, Space Invaders etc, but of course i followed it's whole existence of games and played a ton of arcade games. Last year i built my own arcade machine PC (for use with MAME etc):
  4. I've had it since waaaaaay back. Can't remember when i bought it actually. Just seemed like a smart move + give support for this awesome site of course. I joined 2004, it was probably called something else then. Before this we had Planet-something which most people used for mods. like in the 2000 and earlier. I only remember it had a green logo (of a planet i think) heh.
  5. Ultima 7 II System Shock II Morrowind Waverace 64
  6. While on the topic, would this be ok; Putting up my own texture modders resource on Nexus, on this page linking to my purchasable texture pack which is the full package (let's say the full package is 600 textures, the mod is 200 free textures from said package) ?
  7. Yeah, I don't think graphical banners would be advisable at all, that gets messy and yes, people pay to get rid of it.. Personally i would not mind text links, though i'd limit it to one per page.
  8. Ok i heard back from NordVPN, it was a legit offer at least and not some phishing attempt or outright scam. Can i put up a link to NordVPN on any of my pages, or is it prohibited if i also receieve Donation Points? I read through the terms of service but can't say i saw anything about it. I can certainly see how such things could be a problem, i mean let's say Nexus Mods has some competing VPN sponsor or similar.
  9. yeah at least one other time, maybe twice.
  10. Does anyone else get these? Are they legit, can it even be used without violating something on the site (i'm guessing they want me to add some banner or whatever on my page?? Or maybe they believe i have a huge insta or youtube following - i don't.) The last one was from NordVPN, and the email is at least legit (i checked which ones they use), i didn't reply to him yet.
  11. I have no problem doing melee in First Person. I much prefer that perspective to 'looking over my shoulder'. I don't see it as 'outdated', its just personal preference. its kind of outdated because unless its VR your movement is extremely robotic. in VR you can look to the sides (e.g looking for other threats) while still thrusting with your weapon in a forward motion (as one example). in third person it's less of an issue fighting multiple opponents, and somewhat more realistic in terms of being able to fight off multiple opponents.
  12. Third person is cool if i can zoom out a lot, Skyrim does it well. There's very little value in having a character taking up a lot of screen space, though for some games with melee combat i can understand why it's there, its just hard to do in first person unless its VR. It's really mostly an outdated way of making melee combat work i think.
  13. Want to do another playthrough of this great game but this time i want some good mods.. Any suggestions? So far i have: Ghost Mode The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project ...anything else which is good and doesn't require the Script Merging procedure when its added with these two mods?
